Contemplating the acquisition of a Tavor in the near future, (range use only.)

So my questions to those that have handled both, is the CTAR that much better handling?
Does the shorter barrel provide better accuracy, especially after it gets hot?
TIA

Honestly, I kind of prefer the 18.7" barrel because it allows use of extended hand guards. Imo it really depends what you want to do with it and how much money you want to loose if you have to resell it. Honestly, its 3.5". Sure its neat, and I would love to configure one like the IDF, but I would just be making it a tough resell should I ever decide to sell it.

I haven't fired my CTAR yet but I was startled at how short it is. I've never done side-by-side comparison, and I sold my last NR Tavor about a year ago, but to me the handling difference doesn't seem huge. There's some, but I think it's because both have a lightweight barrel there's not a huge weight difference. I like the CTAR (I'm range-only too) because it's a little different from the more common TAR-21, and it's often less expensive, too.

Just the convenience of a non restricted makes it a no brainer for me, I can carry a non restricted in my trunk to work and get out shooting once I'm done. Or stopping in for a burger after shooting is in theory breaking the law if you have a restricted on board.

Just my 2 cents

Thanks All!
There's some excellent points to consider, especially the convenience of transport.
I noticed no one spoke about accuracy differences, so I assume it can't be much.
I've already factored the cost of a new trigger and trigger pack into the purchase, so the rest would be up to me.

I had a little better success with the CTAR in the accuracy department.

To be upfront, that could have just been luck as I am not that good of a shot!

The CTAR has been converted to 9mm since this picture .

CODFan, I like your style.

The "get both" and keep the one I like better would be an option, if I could convince the kids they don't really need to eat everyday:evil:

That's probably the most expensive picture I've seen on CGN. That's over $10k with those ELCAN 's. very nice sir!

For the op I went non restricted because I like shooting in the pits and camping with my tavor. I did take it to the range last weekend to sight it in with new scope and I was bored pretty quick just shooting off the bench haha ringing the gong at 200 was only fun the first 200 times

If your range limits you to sitting or standing at a bench, I could see the difference - in my case we have IPSC bays that are templated for rifles up to 762x39, so run and gun at the range isn't a problem, as long as you don't mind shooting in a space the size of a small back yard. Given that there's very little Crown Land on the Island, it makes sense to shoot at the range.
