Smith and Wesson

I had a lovely Model 25 in 45Colt that I allowed to be charmed out of my hands.

Old/new - buy what interests you. If it works like it's supposed to, I don't have a problem. It's just too bad that most all of the ones I see for sale used locally have been done up for Bullseye or PPC, and that ruins them for me - I like the factory lines, not aftermarket sight ribs, heavy lugged barrels, etc..

an affection for S&W revolvers lately. (last year it was Browning Hi-Powers...I'm fickle;) )
…can't go wrong with S&W revolvers and BHPs!

I seem to be developing an affection for S&W revolvers lately. (last year it was Browning Hi-Powers...I'm fickle;) )

I was just wondering if there was any one dealer in Canada that was the "go to" guy for this brand? Epps seems to list a lot but not much variety. Shooter'ss Choice shows some interesting stuff but most has been showing "sold out" for 6 months plus.

Mr Kelly, the owner of Kelly's Sporting Goods, is a true aficionado of the S&W brand. Having known him for several years now, I will go to him first if there is something I am looking for. He has revolvers in stock that may not show on his website so give him a call. He seems to be able to get product when nobody else can. Truly surprising.

I just bought a S&W 17-3 and a 1938 Browning Hi-power with tangent sight, both mint and from the same shop.

The 17-3 comes with its original box and has the 8 3/8" barrel. From the quick look I got of it, it appears it's barely been fired, either that or it was very well looked after. The shop I got it from keeps the pistols in a lockup, so through fear of another customer walking in and seeing it, I quickly handed it back and said "I'll take it, but I have to run for some cash, now put it away before someone sees it and it's gone when I get back!!!"

I'll be picking them up tomorrow.
:dancingbanana::dancingbanana: (One banana per pistol :d)

After the fact knowledge of purchase goes "I've always had this honey, I just nevernever use it" ;)

I'll post a few pics tomorrow

I bought this 686 Target Champion from Wes at Kelly's for the wife for Christmas. One of the nicest pistols in my safe, shoots like a dream. Folks say that the fit and finish on the new guns are not as good as the old ones, but in this case I don't agree at all. She's a beauty!

I'm on my second cylinder for my 686 plus. The first started to get cracks around the forcing cones (factory hardening problem) that S&W warranty fixed with-out a hiccup. This revolver is around 18 years old, bought it new, shot in countless competitions and won a few. It's had many full house .357 rounds thru it,hunted deer in Michigan for 4 years with it,taught many newbie's basic firearms safety with it (including police officers in training) and it still shoots great!Mostly shoot mild .38's thru it now but you can't beat Smith and Wesson for "off the shelf" accuracy,fit/finish and warranty IMO!

A 27 is an 'N' frame. Big things. Try it on for size first. Same as a 29 though , so if one of those fits your hand, you're set.
There are 2 Shooters Choice shops. One in Waterloo, the other in AB, I think. Not that it matters. Not affiliated in any way either.

I'm wanting an S&W after many years without. No 12.6 makes me look hard at a 66, 686 or 629 4.2". Wish they had a shorty 25 .45LC, but a regular length one will do. Trying to wait for the shows so I can see in person.
Cheers

Feeling the CFO woes right now... Was all pumped up to get my 1974 S&W 17-3 with 8 3/8" barrel in its original box with cleaning kit, but, left with my head held low as I have to wait for someone I don't even know to give me permission to take it home with me....

I'll just be kicking this tin can till then...

Major quality control issues now. I would not buy another one after going through the process. It's too bad, they used to have such a great product

I never used to be a revolver fan but I'm hooked now. The 629 is 2 years old and the 686 is 1. No issues with fit or finish on either one. Both are excellent shooters and have great triggers. I couldn't be happier with them.
