NM Front Sight For 18.5" Barrel?

I'd like to replace the fat front sights on my 2 shorties. Does anyone have these in stock? SAI part # AA0510?

1. Find the proper width of the iron sight.

2. Take a Dremel tool or something similar and put a grinding disk on it.

3. Grind each side of the post down, measuring with a caliper on the way. Go slow.

4. Stop when the right width is reached.

5. Add cold blue.

6. Enjoy.


Seriously, I did this in about 30 minutes and you'd never know it was touched. Save your money.

You're right, I can't see a standard NM front sight being tall enough.

Many years and two kids in diapers ago, we did this filing down and shaping the standard front sight. 25 years ago the NM sight upgrades were harder to mail order so we just kinda made our own. File in forward strokes. Take your time and use a deep breath for each long stroke. It's quite relaxing and meditating. Enjoy. At the same time, buy one or two from SAI since they do ship to Canada. All great experience.

Remember that it's a Norinco, you can only make them better. LOL

the blade itself on the sight for the Scout Squad is the same height as the regular one for the 22" barrel, but the block it sits on (the part that dovetails onto the flash hider) is taller. Mine is a quality piece.

The bush rifle sight from SAI is a perfect pairing for our 18.5" norinco builds. I've got one on my shorty norinco's gas lock dovetail and on my krieger barrelled 18.5" norinco on the GI flash hider.
Makes the rear sight calibrate perfectly

PS ... I need another one so if anyone is making an order.... Order 2 and I'll take one off yer hands hehehe

Sorry guys, I haven't looked at this thread since my last post, I didn't get any extras! I ordered from Kelly at SAI on Feb 10 and my stuff arrived today. Very pleased with the service.
