I know Steiner makes very good binoculars, what about their rifle scopes? Steiner rifle scopes just started to be stocked at my local gun shop and they appear to be of high quality. Does anyone who owns one care to give some feedback on their functionality, build quality, etc?

I have a 4-16x50 Predator Xtreme very well built, big scope. glass is on par with my Sightron sii big sky. i like the S2 reticle, nice and simple. I have it mounted on my 7rm Sendaro and shoot to a 1000 yds with no problem

I agree, way ahead in hot air advertisement and pricing....in quality? not so.

I cant comment on the Steiner hunting line of optics but the 5-25x56 Military series scope I owned was very nice and was a great value compared to an S&B PMII. I looked at the new T5X series at Shot this year and was very impressed with the quality and features for the price point. Not sure of what "hot air advertising" you are referring to but as far I I know Steiner hasn't launched any aggressive advertising campaign for these scopes. They are being discussed heavily on other forums because of their value similar to the way Sightron is promoted here on CGN. Hot air for the Sightrons as well I suppose?

Thought it interesting that Beretta Holdings also own Burris and Steiner. Burris manufactures/sources from Philippines and China - used to source from Japan .. who knows now. Steiner used to manufacture in China .. they say their scopes are manufactured in Germany now.. hard to say what components/assembly or just packaging is done where these days with many products. All of these locales are capable of making outstanding products .. and crap.

My first and last experience with "German Tasco" grrrr Johny come lately Steiner was with poro prism "military standard quality" 8x30mm "special lenses coating that pinpoints the animal in the woods" binos made in China in early 00'. After 5 years or so the plastic lenses fogged permanently and "my 30 years warranty" didnt cover "the abuse (?)" Friend of mine has exactly the same model for sale for half the price....($200 or so). Any takers? My greatest regret is that I replaced my trusty DDR made Zeis 8x30 binos that I have used trouble free for 25 years with that POS. Such is the life.

I am able to attest to what Marcoman states above as I am the new owner of his Steiner Military 5x25-56 and am very pleased with it. Glass is great, tracks very well and very repeatable. Build quality is also very heavy duty. I am also a fan of the MSR reticle that is only available on a few scopes.. (S&B, Kahles, and Steiner)
