OK, its not a "build" i'm just tweaking with what i like and messing around.

bought this brand new.. my first ever BRAND NEW in box rifle.
50 year anniversary ruger SR22...
tossed a bottom rail on and a cheap 2.5-12x optic with illuminated reticle and laser (for kicks).

the stubby grip on the side is there cuz i like the tommy gun/sten gun hybrid feel it gives in hip firing position its super comfortable and remarkably accurate. tracks very well.

that side grip is gonna go away, i just ordered half length side rails and a FAB DEFENSE angled foregrip.

timney trigger group is en route.

had to get the GSG mag and a butlet creek 25 round mag... that auto loader for the mags is pretty neat as well.

way heavier than i thought for a .22...but that speaks to good quality metal components and heavy barrel....

love that the forum tagline is "funs tuff that wont break the piggy bank"..whoever wrote that clearly never bought and accessorized an SR22.
 
yes, with the loaded drum mag i'm gonna say +++
with two more rails up front, and a sling... its gonna be heavy.
that optic is heavy as ##### too... and the fab defense angled foregrip probably isnt the lightest one in the world... when it gets here...
the timney trigger may add an ounce or two because of the mag release lever etc...
 
just added the timney trigger (all black, gold trigger shoe).

the stock trigger group is a piece of GARBAGE. entirely plastic, including the spring rod, cheap metal hammer, lousy pins, whole thing falls apart if you turn it upside down cuz its just sitting together not properly pinned. and the pins that hold the components in, are loose and crappy.

the timney, holy crap.

I had to shave a little metal off the inside of the stock to get the rear of the trigger group to fit the SR22 body, (designed for 10/22) but it locks right into position and like all timney triggers ive tried... is basically magic.

the internal construction is amazing, single piece CNC machined parts, stainless steel properly fitting pins, heavy duty springs, metal components...

and the mag release lever is a godsend.
 
im considering the ACE tactical folding stock system next.... just gotta ask a few more questions, but since the SR22 stock comes with an AR style milspec tube on the back, it can be easily removed and a new back piece threaded on to accept a folding stock receiver block. still considering.
almost $200 just to get the buttstock i want.. and not 100% sure its what i want.
i just hate tube style AR buttstocks, even magpul etc..

So i improved a little.
Fab Defense Angled foregrip with vertical tactical support, VORTEX 3-9 scope, 45 degree side rail arms with Red dot. timney trigger is nice...MAGPUL single point sling attachment point and sling.

i might install an aftermarket hardened charging guide rod and springs and a nice charging handle to match the trigger shoe (in gold) or maybe the maple leaf one from dlask... and one day i might add a KIDD bolt... if i wear this one a bit...

I've also got replacemewnt recoil buffers (urethane) coming along with proper fitting trigger group pin replacements (also urethane).

Considering a harmonic balancer/blast deflecting muzzle brake too... like the look of a couple.
 


Its pretty easy to get carried away with these guns lol. I set mine up for eleminating gophers this spring.

OK so the big question is, does it shoot? I should say does it shoot better? I like accessories as much as the next guy but to me it's no sense changing a trigger or barrel or any internal "organs" unless it will shoot tighter. So have you noticed a difference? Just asking :d. TC
 
I just picked one up as well, I plan on changing the stock as it is horrendous looking IMO and possibly handguard/barrel shroud.
 
So what is the weight loaded?
Im guessing a bipod is next!
$1500 adds up.
If you had fun great, thats the point.
However as some said, you could have spent less than 1k and have a gun that out shoots it.
To each there own.
Hope you have fun shooting.
 
youd be hard pressed to out shoot a ruger SR22 heavy barrel with timney trigger and decent optics in reasonably capable novice/intermediate skilled hands for under a grand with the same or similar functionality/quality. If not impossible.

It does shoot better.. tighter, cleaner, and easier.

Bipod wouldnt work, too much front load.. the fab defense setup is in the bipod placement area.

and not needed.

Everything on there is pure function. I like where it hangs, how the balance is with a drum mag, the 2 easy shooting styles via close ocular distance scope and unlimited eye relief red dot, the quick easy trigger pulls and the reliability.

Nothing wasted. Even use the fab defense storage bit for extra ear plugs.

Id like that magpul buttstock i think, i dislike the stock one because the adjustment handle is loose/rattley and it feels cheap.

Definitely fun... soooo fun.
I might change the bolt to a pro model, all polished steel and titanium... if it helps with cycling. But theres no problems using the GSG drums.

The butler creek steel lip mags are touchy... kinda lame and i feel they are a waste of money for 25 rounds.

it is really hard to explain the joy of timney triggers to anyone who hasnt owned one.
I use them in anything I own where one is available.
KIDD is probably similar, but Timney sets the bar i think
