1. Is Winchester Wildcat HP same as Winchester 222,333,555 pack ammo ?
2. What do users of American Eagle 40 grain ammo think of it in comparison to other similar priced ammo?

No, the bulk packs are not Wildcats, they are Super-X that did not make the QC cut...

American Eagle is more accurate in most of my guns that any of the Winchester or Remington bulk.
 
I don't know about your Winchester question. I do know I tend to avoid Winchester .22 in general as have had some bad luck with them in the past. American Eagle ammo seems to work quite well. Other than a batch I once had that was literally corroded when I first opened it.

Many thanks for such a prompt response.
I have pretty much only shot the 222,333,555 packs in my CZ 452 varmint .They seem to shoot well, but now are difficult to find.
Thought I might try the American Eagle from Cabela's if still available.

Hey, Pete; I try to stick with CCI Blazer in bulk rounds... but I am currently out, and likely to be for some time to come. I am well stocked with Mini-Mags and SV's, but I am disinclined to use them for casual plinking and clay busting... so I picked up six bricks of AE and have been pleasantly surprised with their function and accuracy in half a dozen of my LR rifles.
 
When I first got my AA conversion for my Glock I bought 5k American Eagle and it didn't work in the conversion very well. It worked fine in my 715t and a couple other rifles that I borrowed and seemed ok for accuracy. My last case lot was Winchester wildcat and it works much more reliably in my conversion.I think they are pretty close in velocity but for some reason the Winchester works better. They were a comparable price and I wish I could buy more of either at the prices I had paid.


I wouldn't buy case lots of the AE, but I would but a 1000 or so just to have it.

I recently bought a brick of AE, it cycles well in both my 10/22 and gsg 1911. Just about the same reliability performance as the CCI minimags and SVs. as others have said the Winchester whitebox is the lowest of the low and my handgun hates it (as in at least 5 or 6 FTEs or FTFs per 10 round mag!)
 
I was planning on buying a bunch of that white box Winchester, but after reading about it it sounds like it's not very reliable and I picked up 5000 rounds of the AE stuff from Cabelas.
 
A couple of years ago we did some good tests of standard priced 22 ammo. We used two Brno rifles, A CZ and a Model 69A Winchester, all with quite good scopes, using best rest we could get, all shot at 50 yards in five shot groups.
With the best ammo we made some groups of half inch or less. I don't have my notes here, but far and away the worst was Wildcat!
The top few were close, with amazingly, Winchester 500 pack running close to top, but Winchester marked Target, was one of the worst. American Eagle was also in there but consistently best was CCI, with a toss up between the standard power and Blazer. Again, from memory, Lightning was an also ran.
Some interesting things noted.
Three shooters all did very close to the same.
All rifles shot them very close to the same order. That is, excellent in one, excellent in all rifles. Wildcat worst in every rifle!

Funnily enough everyone seems to come to that consensus, but then wildcat is some of the best shooting stuff I've found in my MKII. But maybe I got a lucky brick?
 
American Eagle is decent enough.
The Blazer's I have found to be a bit plump.
Forget which rifle (s), but the bolt seemed to be a bit harder to move.
Could be the bullet coating a bit thick?

Them hollow points make for deader gofers........
 
We've had good success with the AE hollow points in my wife's S&W 22S pistol, Wildcat seems to have 1 FTF per clip of 10. CCI Blazer works well through the same gun.
I got some Sellier and Bellot 22 LR 40 gr standard velocity recently, hoping to try that through the pistol and an Anschutz 190 to check for function and accuracy.
 
Peter G not sure if you are still following this thread. I have found the AA to be excellent ammo, it cycles well in all semi's, from rifles to hand guns, and for me has been consistently accurate in all guns. What I find bout it is that the ammo is very consistent from round to round, and the round noses -even the rounded hollow points- are rounded enough that it makes feeding a non issue. As for the Winchesters the ammo is not quite as consistent, so you can find a loose bullet or two, or one not seated quite right, and for me they have not been as accurate. I would buy the AA every time over winchester.
 
Winchester white box bulk packs are the worst in my guns, least accurate, most ftf, don't extract well in my zastava

I was very surprised with American Eagle, most people don't speak highly of it, but it cycled fine in all my guns, and shot accurately with only occasionally flier

CCI blazers are my go to bulk ammo, but they are sometimes over waxed (the same with CCI standard velocity) and do not extract well sometimes
