K31

Inspired partly by this thread I renewed my hunt for a K31 and got lucky today. A 1941 all matching K31 with a beautiful walnut stock. I am loving it. I'll put up some pics as soon as I have them ☺

Sorry guys I know of no one selling them in Canada. I had to buy some from the bay of evil (and it wasn't cheap). Fortunately though they are extremely nice chargers, very smooth and they seem to be very strong. I had to justify buying them by saying they are cheaper than a new magazine.

Anybody got a source for K31 stripper clips? Been trying for ages to find some in Canada to no avail...

The Swiss rifles and carbines don't use a stripper clip - they use a charger. This subject has been covered many times in the last week or so, often by me or diopter. As they are not amde any more, any you can find should be snapped up instantly, this, of course, is what a lot of other folks are doing right now, hence the shortage.

Tradex is probably the only source in Canada, but as I posted on another thread, Numrich often has them - around US$6.50 each plus shipping, which, I'm advised from the comments here, is extortionate.

I've been on the fence too long and have decided to get one before it's too late. Has anyone dealt with p&s militaria? Anybody know how there k31's compare to the new batch at csc? Thanks for your help.

P&S are very good as I dealt with them before. John, the people I talked to is very nice and willing to send pics of the rifle for checking.

There was one sold in EE with a re-finished stock and mint bayonet and only asked for 350 shipped. A super deal and don't know who is the lucky one bought it.

True. Stock condition is 3 on the my must have list. Bore condition is 1 followed by overall condition of action barrel. I picked up 2 more K31s in December. Although the stock was not as beat up as my first, the bore condition was just as good.

I took one of the two K31s to the range with a shooting buddy. My friend has not tried shooting with iron sights at 100m let alone 300m. He thinks wearing an eyeglass precludes him from using iron sights at that distance. After I emptied a mag at the 300m gongs I handed the rifle to my friend. I showed him what the sight picture should look like and loaded the mag. He was able to hit the gong at 300m 4 out 6 shots. Not bad for a first time. The k31 rifle is that accurate.

The refinished stock killed that deal for me, but still great as a shooter.

It was mine.
The stock was so damaged that I could not leave it like that. I was able to remove 90% of the dings.
It lost value but at least she was pretty. I think my price was fair.

That been said, there is a pretty nice one with the tiger striped stock on the EE, guys is asking SOLD$ shipped.

It looked great, just hurt the collectors value.

Actually, the stock was so well done that I can't follow through with my original plan to alter the rifle and build a one off tanker gun by cutting it down. This gun is too nice a condition to mess with, so she will stay as she is and I will find another in not so nice a condition to play with.

Dropped by the CSC and checked a few out. While still worth every penny, I am so glad I got in early on their last shipment when they were $250 and cherry picked. The ones they had on the rack all had similar finish to the last crop but bores at 7.54, priced at 4-5 hundred. Like I said though, still a lot of rifle for the money.
