Was just wondering what some opinions are on the Model Seven CDL,...fit and finish, accuracy, function, etc. How would it compare to the X-Bolt.
These little rifles have always caught my eye and I saw a good deal on a new one in 308win and it got me wondering if I should entertain the thought of buying one.
Also,..do some of the newer model sevens have the safety recall?...I don't want to by one and then have to send it away to be fixed.

Thanks

Excellent little gun... beats the X-Bolt in all areas IMO... really a well balanced, handy carry... I doubt that you would be disappointed.

Edit; my opinion is based solely on older M7's... I have no experience with the new crop.

They are nice, handy compact rifles that are just as accurate as the M700. The newer ones are affected by the same recall as the 700. I prefer the older model 7 with the 20" barrel and iron sights. If you were looking to customize it a bit, then the M7 is a good option, but bang for buck (new) I'd go X-bolt if those were my only choices.

The early ones with sights were 18.5".

I prefer the finish of the walnut, the finish of the metal, the fit, the feel, the handling, the mechanics and the accuracy of the older M7's over either the A or X-bolt rifles... I think that covers it?

Those dinky little stainless ruger bolt actions with the 16.5" pipe have always appealed to me - but sadly I cant see a use for one in my line up. A guy needs a excuse to buy one doesn't he?

I restocked a couple Compacts in .223 and 7mm-08... also have Frontier's in .308 and .338F... they are accurate little guns and really handle nicely... I took 2" off the forends for a more balanced look with the short barrels.

Hoyt have you ever considered taking a group picture of all your M77s at once? Or would it be impossible to stand far enough back to get them all in the shot :p

It could probably be done... I have downsized significantly... when I take pics they tend to be theme pics... as in a pair of M77 Compacts, or a group of Hawkeye All-Weather's, or a grouping of No.1-A's or No.1-RSI's etc... so that they might be applicable to a specific topic.

I think if I do buy a Model Seven I will just replace the trigger myself with a Timney,...seems like a lot less headache.
Does the Model Seven use the same trigger as the 700 or does it have its own style?
Have any of you put a Timney trigger in your Model seven or 700?

It's a different trigger assembly than the 700. The saftey arm has a different offset, and the bolt release is different.
