Good day,

As the title says, I'm in need of help with identifying this choke tube. I bought this nifty Remington 870 barrel on the cheap that was originally a 30" fixed full choke older Wingmaster barrel. It's been cut down (professionally) to 25" with a screw in choke. I was told it's a modified choke and the only marking on the choke is "710". The barrel is threaded for Remington chokes, however, when I put a friends factory flush choke into my barrel, it sticks out quite a bit! Does anyone have any idea what kind of choke this is or if there are any other chokes that you think might fit this?

Thanks for your time

The one with the knurled portion is a win Chole and that is how they fit with the knurled portion on the outside

Yep the early 1st design it looks like. Man some bulge they put in the barrel to install it. Strange smith somewhere ;)
2nd design Perazzi looked like that also but I would be suprised it is one of them

Somethings not quite right there...RemChokes aren't suppose to be compatible with anything else...or did we just find something out here?!!

Same od .814 and same 32 TIP but not interchangable

The shape is different between the Remington and the Winchester which makes a scary difference if I remember right when you look down the barrel and see a lip looking at you. Might be wrong been a while

Update from others
Reason for that isn't because the choke tubes won't fit, but more because the barrel and how it is reamed. WinChoke and RemChoke barrels are reamed to different dimensions before threading for the chokes, so to my understanding, the taper from back to front would be different. Because of this, fitting the wrong chokes onto the barrel may cause a gap between tube and barrel, that when fired, would risk shooting the choke out of your gun or worse barrel damage.

Most choke tube threads are either 32 tpi or 44 tpi as for the flared portion on the bbl that is correct I used the same sust for yrs bought it from brownells in the early 80's then switched to the walker system I preferred the win Chole system but the fellow I sold it to wouldn't sell it back to me .

The blued choke with the knurled end is an an original style Winchoke. The dimple in the knurling is for the end of the choke wrench to fit in for tightening/loosening.

The other is a FLUSH MOUNT Rem Choke!! !00% of that choke is meant to be INSIDE the barrel!! Your first pic reminds me of an 1100 I had years ago with a barrel that had been customized by Stan Baker, swaged end made to take Winchokes. Get that Rem Choke out of there unless you plan to do some damage to your gun, yourself or possibly an innocent bystander!!

Here is a pic of an original winchoke and winchoke wrench........

Beat me to it,Spank---it is indeed a Win choke and the barrel flaring a Stan Baker-now deceased-custom installation---I have 870 and 1100 Baker barrels.---Bent Barrel
