Ross M10 County of York Home guard rifle

No pics (yet), but my brother just lucked into an almost pristine M10 Ross marked to the County of York Home Guard with a proper representative type bayonet which is not Home Guard issue but correct to the rifle. I've had several Ross rifles come through my hands over the years, but never one as nice as this. The chamber isn't reamed out and the bolt is unpinned. Oddly, the crown on the barrel is just flat cut but talking to a very knowledgeable buddy, I found out that there are many Ross's done like that.
WARNING!!! Collector's Source has a Ross M10 for sale, supposedly another County of York Home Guard rifle. I've seen 2 HG rifles, and after having seen my brother's and pics on the one in the Collector's Source, there are glaring discrepancies. The one on CS has incorrect stampings and to my eye, it looks like someone sanded the cartouches off and re-stamped the wood. At almost 2 grand, someone hot to get their hands on a Ross could get seriously burned.
 
Not sure if the collector source one is legit home guard or not, I have a B of M HG ross, and it has the small aperture sight, the unpinned bolt, no "E" stamped chamber, and the Flat crown on the muzzle. So there are some differences.
 
The butt definitely looks sanded on the Ross in the link, shame.
I have been looking for a Ross rear aperture sight of that type for ages to fit on my Martini Henry-they are as rare as unicorn poo over here!

I disagree about the stock being sanded. Having had my grubby, envious mitts on my brother's rifle, I can positively state that his un-sanded stock looks the same. As to the rear aperture Ross sight, if that is exactly what you're seeking, let me know via PM and I'll keep my eyes open at the local gun shows.
 
In reference to the CS rifle...
Look at the fit of the buttplate. Look at the crispness of the HG stamps. Don't add up.
The rifle has the larger aperture in the rear sight. WW2 bolt sleeve rivet. Early stamped nosecap.
If the rifle ever was a HG, it has had an interesting life.
There is no mention in the description, or evidence in the photos, of the HG serial number which would be stamped using tiny numerals on the left side of the barrel breech.
Too many red flags to make me happy.

And with no further ado, here they are. You will note the un-pinned bolt. For whatever reason, the pictures show clear in my picture folder but when I try upload some of them onto Photobucket, they come out with a distinct reddish cast. You will have to trust me when I say the bore is pristine and the feed ramp shows no copper tracks, so IF it has been fired (and that's a big if), it has to have been VERY few rounds.

I didn't meen to imply that the Ross in the photos was sanded, it was the one for sale at Collectors Source that looked a bit suspect!
The Ross on this thread is one of the nicest rifles I have seen and certainly better than any I have seen for sale over here for a long while.
Thanks very much for the offer to keep a lookout for a sight, I will get in touch when I get back to my laptop as my phone is a bloody nightmare for posting on!

Sorry Silfield, I misunderstood. Everyone in the know who's seen the CS Ross seems to be of the same mind. As to the sight, do you need the sight only or do you need the base as well? If it's only the sight you need, I may have a line on one. If you need the complete assembly, that may be problematic. Also, what's your budget for the item? PM me, and I'll see what I can do.
