To the Marlin afficionados out there, just wondering what you know about the JM stamped SBL? I can't seem to find much on the web about it except for that its very hard to find in the US and go from about $1500-2400 USD. Does that make sense? Any idea how many were made? I didn't even know that the SBL was produced by Marlin before the acquisition.

Any info you have on it would be great!
 
There were quite a few made, and they come up for sale on the EE every now and then. Expect to pay anywhere from $900-$1200. Anything over that would be rediculous. Prophet River has one of the new ones for sale.
 
I think you are confused with the Remlin made SBL. A non JM stamped SBL is relatively easy to find, I can't find any JM stamped even in the US on gunbroker.

I'm talking about a North Haven gun.

Nope, I know you are talking about a JM stamped SBL and NOT a remlin.

What I'm saying is that I have seen them for sale for reasonable prices. If someone is asking $1500-$2400 for a used JM SBL then, in my opinion, you should let them keep it. JM stamped 1895CB's aren't even fetching that price.

If you are stuck on finding a JM, then all the power to ya and I wish you good luck in your search. But, there are some good Remlin SBL's out there if you can get your hands on it before you buy it. I handled one 2 weeks ago that was as smooth out of the box as my JM cowboy. And yes, it had straight sights, fully rifled barrel and and decently machined reciever.
 
They were made for 2 years prior to the take over. "92 & 91" serial numbers. They come up on the EE from time to time $900-$1200 as previously stated

Not only asking price, but sold on gunbroker in those ranges. Anyway OK thanks
