Hi guys

I have been looking at and reading up about this pistol for a while now. I am a Glock 17 man myself but this HK looks great. Anyone have any experience with them? What are your thoughts. Pro's con's? How easy is it to get holsters and extra mags for these?
 
I have one at them moment and unfortunately have to sell it. It's perfect though. I personally think there is no other pistol that feels as good in the hand. The one I have is the v1 lem trigger. It has a light trigger, which I like. I've tried another version that had a tough trigger on the single action. It would've taken time to get used to, so I didn't get that one. The lem is a huge difference to me though! Yes the custom grip sizes help as well. Mags are pricey. I feel their price is more justified, built on the good construction, compared to usp mags (which are expensive, but are fairly light and feel as if they should cost less)
 
Best ergonomics out there. beautiful, I have a LEM model, I love it.

I would love to try the other version sometime.

I wish I could shorten the trigger reset though.
 
Compared to HK45 and the USP the DA/SA trigger has a very long take up and a very long reset.
I found the LEM on my p2000 had a shorter reset than the da/sa on P30.

The walther PPQ gives a similar grip feel to it, with a much better trigger.
 
All I ever shot was the HK USP Tactical and she's a fine gun. I've been shooting it 9 years now and she just keeps shucking shells like a champ. Most HK's do.

Back in the day when I first bought mine the Kings Of All Things HK were the boys at Wolverine Supply...but I am seeing mags everywhere now.

Cons: I've heard that HK has had supply and customer service issues in the past. You hear a lot of hogwash from gas bags (like Yours Truly) on the internet so I take that with a couple grains of salt. I've never had a breakage, so I can't comment. Mags are a little pricey. Bite the bullet and buy 6 like I did. If the model ever goes obsolete you will have enough to last you a life time. Mine were $75.00 apiece back in 06 or so. Ouch. (But ya know...maybe that's not bad? What's a top notch 1911 mag worth these days?)

The HK is a big step up from the Glock, IMHO, and if there is anything the Glock can do that the HK can't...I would be very surprised.

My 5000 round experience the gun has closer to 6000 right now. One thing I discovered at least on mine so far is that it does not like Barnaul 115 grain steel ammo. Near fallish I expect to be closing in on the 10k mark and will post my 10k range report then. But when i ran out of barnaul out of 500 rounds I ran through this gun it gave me 10 fte.


The ergonomics in my opinion are second to none.

The reliability other than the barnaul as you can see has been flawless.

I love the ambi controls the mag release has multiple ways to be operated with a high grip, bit it's near impossible to accidentally release the mags

Holsters are easy enough to order, most major makers make one. Same goes for sights, although I haven't found anyone this side of the border that stocks the sights I want.

Mags, at this time are bloody expensive, because of our exchange rate you can't just buy them for 45 bucks from the states any more, not to mention with the vp9 selling so well there the mag supply down there has completely dried out.

The single complaint I have with the light lem version I have is the trigger reset. It is tacticle enough that you can still feel it reset wearing thick stuff like hot paws, but it is 2-4mm too long. A shorter reset would have made it perfect.

If you have a similar issue with the reset being a bit annoying I could suggest waiting for the upcoming sfp9, which would for all intents be the same except with the shorter trigger reset and a crisper initial pull(or so I am being told).

If it doesn't bother you or you want da/sa or something else, go ahead, you won't be disappointed.
 
Customizable grip side panels and backstraps make for a very comfortable grip. Nice, highly visible sights. I must say, though, that I prefer the trigger on the USP better. As r34skyline mentioned, the reset bugged me after shooting a Glock for years.
 
IMHO, P30L should be in anyone's collection at one point, i personally will keep one forever. mag is a little expensive, but not hard to get. not sure about holsters.

Big question : Is it worth spending around $1600-1700 all in (including a bunch of extra mags) on this gun?

I plan on keeping the Glock too since I do love it, but may alternate pistols for IPSC

Shouldn't cost that much I paid $1200 for gun, and 6 mags, holster, and other accessories.

But yes.... it is worth it.

I will check out Red Deer Shooting Center locally too. I am going to Calgary for an IPSC match on the 22nd so might check it out too. Thanks :)
