Well hard to understand what you are looking for. Well you want to change the butt, but do dont know if you have a fixed stock or a collapse-able? If you got a 20" I assume its a Fixed. YET are you trying to make it have the stock like on #2 or do you want a Stock like #1 but with adjustable cheek piece and LOP?

IF you want to put a stock like #2 you will need to change the whole buffer tube assemble from a Rifle length to a carbine length. Thats Buffer tube, buffer, spring, jam nut, jam plate and stock.
FYI AR15 have ALL the same buffer tube specs and thread size. You need to help us more if you want answers. Then I got a AR and I want this. Because ALL those companies have what you need, Just you dont know what you got to say YES.

If it was like Dads Colt Sporter its got a stock like #1, But then again I dont know what you mean by adjustable butt. I can only assume you want like a PRS or put on like #2.

Wow, its exactly like 1 but now that I see my choices im not sure.I don't want to appear ignorant it just that I bought it legally 25 years ago then when they reclassified them restricted I put it in the back of the cabinet and left it alone but now im going to get back into it and thought I'd modify mine a little with a flashlite,lazer and new butt.Thanks,you've been very helpful just with the pictures alone.
Well for fixed stocks there not many options, Magpul PRS, Magpul MOE. Couple others.
I personally love the Magpul M93 or the Ergo F93 because they are collapse able, BUT they lock rock solid and feel of a fixed stock w/o the odd buffer and stock weld. See below. My choice.
You can get carbine collapse stock kits everything minus stock for about 70$ and stock varies from Free to 100$ I bought a ATI and it was a milspec buffer tube kit. Came with everything minus the stock for 70$ and a buddy gave me a free stock.
