Hello all,

I have been into pistols for a few years now.

My list of ownership runs anywhere from ruger 22 bisley, several 9mm's, 44 magnums, 357 , and a 40 s and w

They were all ok but the other day I picked up a norinco goverment 1911 45 acp.

I have had a 45 acp mold for a while now but never made any bullets with it.

Upon unboxing and de greasing I noticed how good that pistol felt in my hand. My favorite pistol to this point was the beretta 92 as it felt balanced and well rounded but a little large.

Upon holding this 1911 it just felt so good in my hand. A feeling I cannot explain. It just looks so simple and just looks so good.

After making a box of lead ammo I took it to the range and was pleasantly surprised. This gun just feels oh so good. Easy to load single stack mags, very accurate, good amount of recoil, and feels bad ass launching .452 projectiles. Cylinder pressures are low as are FPS which I personally like when shooting lead.

All I can say is I guess I have been missing out on the 1911 all these years. After one range trip I feel it's the only pistol I will ever need.

Regards,

Chris

As much as I love my Glocks, S&W's, etc., it's true - a Colt 1911 feels so "right" in the hand (that's probably why I have several!). JMB was a genius, without doubt.

You will get another one at some point, the 1911 is like a virus, it grows in your gun safe until you have multiple 1911's LOL

Welcome to the club ;)

I just finished fondling a SIG target model at cabelas.

Must say I was disappointed that it was such a rattler for what I understood was one of the better brands out there. My SAM is tighter

Of all the handguns I own and shoot, the 1911 has the most AUTHORITY. My Glocks are the most reliable (not one stoppage of any kind, ever, in 10 years). My revolvers are the most accurate, from .22 to .44 magnum. Single action six guns are the most fun to play with and everyone wants to get a chance be a gunslinger at the range.

But the 1911, the weight of it, the sparkle of deep mirrored nickle, the bite of the sharp checkering and slide grooves, the huge muzzle and the loud BOOM of authority makes this the one to train with and live up to being called a gun owner.

My wife took her Black Badge course with one of her Ruger SR9's. Then she shot one of my 1911's and found HER gun! Now she owns two SR191'a n a Remington R1.

I've also got three 1911's, one a Series '70 Gold Cup.

Keeps me busy reloading for both of us and it ain't cheap, but we wouldn't have it any other way Jeff Cooper was right, and so was John Moses Browning.

Old soldiers called the 1911 "old slabsides" cause' if you ran out of ammo a whack on the side of your opponents skull with the pistol was very effective :slap:

I haven't owed or shot a pistol in years. And recently have been wanting to get back at it and the 1911 is what I'm looking at. When I was in high school a buddy of mines dad had a Remington Rand and a Colt 1911. I forget what model the Colt was it's been just long enough ago. Probably a Series 80. We made frequent trips to the range on weekends and shot lots of lead at helpless milk cartons and Coke cans. I'd like to pick up a 1911 soon and go have some fun. I'm a poor guy who has a stingy money tree so it'll probably be a Norinco to start but that's ok.

I'll never get rid of my Glock just for it's simplicity and reliability, but I'll also probably never own more than one. 3 1911's and counting. They are a whole other thing for me.

The only thing about 1911 is the ammo even though I'm reloading them but still didn't shoot as much as Glock 17. Yes, every gun nutzs should have at least 1911 in .45 ACP. My next purchase would be 1911 in 9mm.
