Just acquired one of these little beauties and it's a nice shooter in excellent condition. Interestingly no marks on the receiver aside from a serial number. Caliber is original 7x57. Haven't taken it apart to see how much is matching.

First issue I noticed however is when loading cartridges, the magazine floorplate will not hold the first round in securely. It seems there is a bit of lateral movement in the floorplate that doesn't permit it to keep the cartridge tight against the right side of the magazine. Subsequent rounds hold in just fine. This also manifests itself when firing as the last cartridge will pop up, the floorplate will lock the bolt back, and the cartridge can spill out the side if the rifle is tilted to the right.

Not a major issue but one I'd like to fix. If anyone has a suggestion for a remedy I'd be most interested. Thanks.

Replace the follower spring. You should be able to find them in spare parts bins at gun shows or on the EE
Thanks, I will give that a try.

Guess you grabbed this one from Tradeex, you were faster than me... Lol. JP.
Actually no, someone else got that one. This one came from the EE and IMO is in better condition. It may have been refurbed (reblued and stock refinished) at one point but it sure is a looker and very fun to shoot. It's my first ####-on-close Mauser and it's definitely got a different feel to it. I can rapid fire it about as fast as my Enfield.
