Hi guys and gals
Have any of you seen the influx of No1MkIII* SMLE rifles on the EE wearing brand new fore-stock assemblies? I've seen about 7 of them sell in the last 30 days or so.

Where are these new stocks coming from?

Thanks
RC

Yeah, most of these (if not all) are from Numrich. Decent quality, usually a fair amount of work for proper bedding. It's definitely not a "drop in", so some caution is advisable. As Tank1867 mentioned, with our dollar going down, it'll be less tempting to order lots from down south...

About 50% of the forends I get in are from Numrich although lately with the exchange rate/shipping charges/Canada Post fees I'm hesitant to order extras even if I know they'll sell fast.

Most of the rest I get in from a former Ebay seller that I've been dealing with for years, he sells me incredible forends and full stock sets but the price is very high and they need a lot more inletting then the ones from Numrich, these I usually only sell to CNGers that I've dealt with often and trust me, mostly because these are expensive parts and I always have the fear that someone will be let down or feel ripped off- just a quirk of mine.

The remainder of the ones I get are from a family member that travels to Texas a lot, he won't tell me who he buys them from only to torment me.

i`ve made and sold no less than 17 walnut upper hand guards to various CGNers. most went to repeat customers, and some are matched them up nice with the Numrich fore ends . haven`t seen any of those for sale on rifles on the EE, but then i`m not usually looking.
don`t know why i never saw this thread before

I've seen a few of your upper hand guards matched with forends that I've sold, mostly Numrich and its easy to tell the guards came from you. The hand guards I had/sold were all used and showed some wear and tear. The handguards you sell are obvious because they are beautiful and complement the quality Numrich Walnut stocks.

Personally, I think that any part made by hand or NOS is legitimate for a restoration because of the simple fact that 100 years ago nobody gave a damn who made what or where as long as they worked. I know this may offend some purists that have been hoarding their rifles for many years but the honest truth is anybody wanting to restore a SMLE is trying his best without spending crazy amounts of money, if it is made for a SMLE it is legitimate, no matter if Canadian, British, Aussie, Indian etc.

All of the above is said with respect to those who can afford non FTR/ restored rifles.

I got one from numrich and it only needed a little fitting in the trigger area and the stock has british proofs on it. the problem is I cant find the upper handguard in the same wood so I can match the stocks up.

I've been a bit hesitant about the Numrich furniture recently. I have bought from them for years and usually been happy but my last 2 #4 forends were unseviceable crap. I gave them away they were so bad.
Anybody buy any recently?

lots of there parts are like that. I ordered a smle nose cap and they sent me one of the indian A2 or .308 square eared ones. I had to reorder one from marstar and they sent me the right part.

Mine needed a lot of fitting. The walnut doesn't match the coachwood butt or rear handguard, but I discovered I could live with that...

Numerich, hit or miss.
Ex: $60 part + $50 minimum shipping fee+ exchange $1.28 as of recently = Total about $140 .....+ you might pay import of some sort. I 've had $0 and have had $17 Import Fee on a single $30 buttstock. And I have even had Visa charge me a purchase fee! Some wood Epps NOS, and with wood patches or deep dents too.
Another Ex. IMA mailed me a Bess to my door in 2 1/2 days. UPS fee or get no package, $160 fee!
Sad but true.
