I plan to get the Midwest Industries XL Keymod soon when it arrives at my local dealer. I have a barrel shroud on my Tavor right now. Would you advise I grind the hole in the front of the MI XL keymod so the diameter of the barrel shroud will fit through it or should I trash the shroud and just put the flash hider back on?

Anyone done this with a barrel shroud before? Is it a bad idea? It could look cool with 1.5 inches of shroud peeking out the end... as long as i could pull it off with a drummel tool to grind the hole bigger...

I vote trash the shroud. It does nothing but add weight.

Get a compensator or a flash hider that will actually affect your shooting.

what about a three long prong type like the one on your rifle. That's more than just for looks right? I know where I can get one like that. It's 75 bucks.

I love the look of this one..

Unfortunately, this is an integrated suppressor. I'd like to see some sort of barrel shroud/rail system that looks like this so we can have them in Canada. I just don't like the look of the barrel sticking out of it. It needs SOMETHING up front.

I also vote to ditch the barrel shroud. The Tavor starts getting heavy when you keep adding weight to it as even bare bones oem its about 7lbs. Depending on your visions for the rifle, the weight may add up quickly. Budgeting and setting a limit for weight will help keep your rifle practical over tacticool. When I added the MI XL out front, I tried to counter-act it by removing the oem 45° side rail and switching out the full length oem top rail to a GHW short razorback to earn back the balance and also get the proper height for my Specter DR. Then I have the Surefire Scout 600u 500 lumen mounted as far out front as possible, "Costa style" lol. In this layout it is by no means a light rifle at about 10.5lbs dry.

Still waiting on Zahal to get more GHW front sight posts, as well as the Manticore curved buttpad and Luma safety levers.

And I should get my Geissele Sabra lightning bow in a month or so. So excited for this!

You're kidding right?

Okay. I am going to buy it. does it make a difference to have those longer prongs as opposed to prongs that are a bit shorter? I do think the longer ones look cool. The long prong flash Hyder that's available seems to have a rim on the back that covers about half an inch of the barrel. Hey press pass, did you use the locking nut that comes with the original tavor flash hider with that flash hider on yours?

Man just buy a sks if you wanna throw useless stuff on it. When you have a $2500 rifle, I suggest putting stuff on it that actually works. That's just my opinion though, it's your rifle, you can d what ever you like!

Only things I put on my tavor were a 1-4x24 optic and a Rainer arms compensator. I never thought I needed a compensator until I broke down and finally tried this one. The muzzle simply doesn't move. I was smoking an 18 inch gong 5 for 5 @ 200 yardspretty much as fast as I could pull the trigger.

I am probably going to try one of the forend extension things simply because i do like a more forward american style grip but I've adapted to the tavors style now pretty good.

Ps don't through useless crap on an sks either, been there done that...

x3 ditch the barrel shroud adds weight plus i think it looks ridiculous, a good set of optics handguard rail and a bipod, maybe a surefire or inforce light and a comp

Can you post a picture of your compensator? There are so many to choose from and I don't know what would be the best bet or where to get one. Does the compensator cause you're tavor to be very loud?

Agreed.... too bad we can't have the suppressor.

To the guys asking about my Rainer arms comp:

It's kinda acts as a muzzle brake and a compensator in one, there is ports on top (to vent gas upwards) as well as the slanted front. I always laughed when guys talked about muzzle devices on 5.56 but man, I shut up quick when I bought this.

I always found the tavor a little jumpy since I was used to a long rail for me to stretch my arm out on (xcr and ar15's) this solved the problem 100% virtually no muzzle rise, just a little jolt straigh back into the shoulder.

I bought it last summer off a site sponsor but I can't remember. I'll check for receipts and email receipts and report back.

Edit- and yes it's loud, especially for people beside you. I usually just wear ear plugs and they're still fine but you can defiantly feel a "thump" hit you when you fire with this on. It's beautiful.

One more edit- I remember when I bought this one, there was a shorter version available too. It only has one side port on each side instead of two. I recall it was the same length of a standard A2.
