Laminated SVT-40

Did they make SVT-40's with laminated wood? Looking to complete my Red Rifle collection, but have not seen an SVT-40 in laminate. Please advise.

Laminate wood stocks were a 50's and later thing, don't know of any Soviet rifles that had laminate before then.

The SVT's ceased production before the end of the war. The refurb process for them was mix-mastering remaining inventory left over from production and decent parts from the ones left over from war surplus. By the time laminate wood stocks was a "thing" the SVT's were already in storage.

There are laminate wood stocks for the Mosins because they remained in active service with rear echelon and militia units well into the 60's and 70's.

Never saw SVT-40s with laminate stocks.

All I've ever seen (in person and in research) is the regular stock and the "AVT" stock). My '41 has the regular stock and my '43 has the AVT stock.

I posted info on a guy who made a "Dragunov-style" laminated stock for his SVT-40 which has garnered a ton of attention and praise so maybe he will be persuaded to make more ??

Russians learned laminate stock manufacture techniques from germanys factories that they captured during the war. So any laminate stocks you see on Mosin is post ww2 stocks. SVT 40s were not produced after the war so there is your answer.
Who knows, may be somewhere in Russia they still have crates of original AVT40 rifles with laminated stocks that are yet to be found. May be even with few G or K 43s that they captured as well?
G43s we can have, AVT 40s no no.

Now, THAT would be awesome !!

I've seen a couple videos on YouTube of guys shooting the AVT. One is an American and the other is a Russian ??

Anyhow, it's quite cool to see what looks like an SVT go full auto !!!

I'd love to have a G43.

Cant tell if OP is liberal, has mental issues or cant understand the simple English word "NO"

keine, нет, いいえ, 没有, ekki, níl aon, لا, 아니, não, לא. He might pic up "no" in one of these foreign languages.

So... this is an attempt at humour ?? Sarcasm ??

Hard to tell.

Sure wish there was a humour or a sarcasm font.

FYI... Gunnies come in all flavors and colors. What prevails is our common love of firearms.

I think he is just annoyed that you started another thread expecting a different answer

Nope, not me... did not start another thread on laminated stocks for SVT-40s... simply mentioned that another CGNer made his own Dragunov-style laminated stock is all.

I just don't like seeing a gunnie insult another gunnie. We should not be turning on each other like that.

Can't we all just love the svt 40 , thats right, go give yours a hug right now :p hehehe. Lammy stocks would be nice, the one one mine is lighter.
I hope the dragunov guy gets those in production, would love to get my hands on one of those . cheers boys/ladies/gunnies.

I agree we should keep things civil, my bad here is the other thread I saw on the same topic. Same avatar and user that starts with an L, I need to get my eyes checked!

I figured as much... oh well... no biggy. :)

Now go out and shoot your SVT-40s and revel in the fact that you only paid between $200 and $300 for such a fine rifle... not like our neighbors to the south.

They have to shell out between $900 and $1200 due to an import ban signed in the 80s so the total number of SVT-40s in the US is less than 2,000 I believe.

And the ones in the US have been, by and large, used, abused, and shot to heck. If someone offered me a choice between one of the ones that's been in the US for $200, and one of the new import Canadian ones for $350, I'd take the Canadian one.

Some of the "review" videos I've seen of the SVT's in the US, and by people who generally know their firearms (I'm looking at you, Military Arms Channel), make the rifle seem like a trainwreck of bad design and unreliability. But when you look closely, you can tell it's just a very poorly maintained rifle that some Bubba sold off to cash in on the current demand in the US.

Sad, really. A properly maintained SVT is as reliable as any semi-auto from that era.

While I agree with you on the fact that SVT-40 was adequately reliable for ww2 rifle, I cannot agree on the statement about preferring refurbished SVTs over Finn capture. In US there are plenty of SVTs in condition close to original, while refurbished SVTs are postwork reworks.

Catty bunch for sure. I just wanted to know if they made SVTs with laminated stocks. I started one thread. Someone else locked mine and started one with similar wording, but it was not me. Been here 6 years, over 200 transactions, so not my first rodeo, and I am probably a pretty lousy Liberal.
