Haven't posted for awhile and just started to peruse through the EE and it appears that the SKS and SVT listings are not as plentiful as they once were..Russian sanctions I'm assuming or is there other factors at play here??

There seems to be a lot of SKS's, but I have been looking for an SVT for about a month, and there isn't a lot of selection right now.

I know when I bought my first SVT40 back in 2008 ,they were more money then than they are now , paid about $450 back then ,so buy now while you may.

Red SKSs are still plentiful and cheap for now ,so buy NOW.

The only reason that sks is still plentyfull is Molot import. Without painted, marked Molot sks the offer will dry up. The Molot is garbage compared with Ucrainian old import.

SKS - lots out there but quality has gone down - in general at least. The nice Ukraine refurbs are long gone (few stores still have them) and the majority on the market are Russian Molot rifles and the quality is pretty bad compared to the Ukraine refurbs.

SVTs - Only source was the Ukraine - so yes supply is drying up. You can still find them 'new' at a few stores from $290+

Not the case at all. Westrifle and Corwin Arms has top quality SKS rifles (non-BBQ paint) and P&S Militaria has decent SVT40s.

I was lucky to grab one of Corwin's select SVT's he put out around christmas and lasted like a week on the site. I asked and he said that bunch came out of Polish Military Storage. So Ukraine is not the only supply i guess, or it was just a fluke. Glad i got at least one. Let's not bash the BBQ painted SKS's i got one from Lebaron in Sauga and it has replaced parts and etc. but it shoots and works great. cleaned up nice and i dont feel bad about modding it to my liking :)

200$ sks? mine were all 160-179 and i bought them just last year. 200$ is expensive unless i can hand pick the one I want and its laminate. SVT is getting scarce, atlest from what importers are saying. for 300$ i would buy one.

Just did an initial cleanup with a friends molot SKS, second one from them with a receiver full of sand. Where I can I find a nice one with laminate stock sans sand?

^^^Corwin Arms, Westrifle always come up as having the nicest reds. I've delt with Corwin a couple times last year, always happy with what I recieved. I have a really nice blued laminate I picked out at Lever Arms, I'd buy from them again. They always have nice sks and seem to always have a couple svt's on the rack whenever I drop in.
