One of my Facebook friends, a fellow Canadian, shared this on his Facebook, it's apparently a thing.

He said it was a pistol version of a mosin.

I don't know much about it, but here it is, enjoy:

"obrez"

bet it has a hell of a muzzle blast

a legal length one in a mares leg configuration would be a funny bubba.

Yeah, this is real one. Original name - obrez. Widely in use during revolution in Russia. Mostly by outlaw. Doesn't play on the distance, but point blank...

You boys oughtta be ASHAMED of yourselves!

That is just a filthy, rotten thing to do...even to a Mosin...! Not even a scum sucking commie bastid deserves that.

As for the rest of you - the next young punk I see putting cash down on one of those abominable 'mare's leg' lever abortions - will get the frowning of his life!!!!

The one in original post looks like some modern joke. I saw couple of them in real life, yeah they still can be found. The thing is regular ppl from villages needed to fight back commies confiscating their food, so I would not call those ppl outlaws.
Here's the typical one. Note that sight are removed, there's no need for them.
This one BTW from Poland Ww2 period.

What the H.ll is that? Never heard of that expression before, and I'm a 50+ AB boy.

M

Grampa Abe Simpson! I think that is how he dealt with Montgomery Burns...:)

Yannow...I saw one where Hicock 45 on Youtube put a proper stock on a mare's leg and I'll be damned if he didn't end up with the handiest looking carbine I have ever seen. The 10/22 guys sometimes do the same thing right here in the rimfire section: they get a pimped out Ruger action and then put a stubby barrel on it...and end up with the coolest looking pocket rifles you could ask for. (And some of those choppers SHOOT!)

That Mosin looks like it MIGHT benefit from the same treatement....
