I've been sifting through some different forums here and surprised not to find any news regarding this, so I thought I'd post here. With the ATF banning the aforementioned ammo from being sold to the public in the US, will this affect it's export and sale here in Canada? Perhaps one of the business owners could chime in with a laymen's legal explanation on what this means for us?

To start with the situation down south isn't set in stone.....yet. The industry and public have some time to appeal the decision (I believe 30 days) so there could very well be backlash. As explained in this video the same backlash is what happened with NFA trusts.

If passed it will likely effect export from the US. However not all manufactured ammunition comes from the US so it can be imported direct from other manufacturers.

King Obama is rumoured to have banned it, not the ATF. Our lot already decided AP can't be imported. NRCan learned making law by regulation from the ATF and Harper has done nothing about it.

Didnt read the other two threads, did you?

Our friends to the south are concerned about incremental disarmament through regulation (as has been promised).

Eventually, we will all be firing Q-tips out of licenced air rifles.

Last time I checked lead still penetrates paper. Could someone explain the need for 855 rounds without drifting into fantasy land?

All those nice optics we get for our guns are BDC for M855. The guns were designed to shoot it.

Shooting 55gr. FMJ is like putting regular unleaded in your Porsche.

The guns? you mean 1 in 7 twist. what about the other 'guns'. I doubt you even shoot far enough for your BCD to matter. At 800m M193 drops 236" and M855 around 200". If you're shooting that far you should probably roll your own ammo.

You don't buy M855 for an XCR. It was meant for the AR.

And 800M? Sorry, but they work for 200M, and my optics are BDC for that.

Lol clearly you are the guy who knows and decides what other people need.
