I have a Sig M400 Enhanced, 5.56, with a Bushnell 3-12x40 AR/223 scope.

I am shooting from a bench using a bipod.

I recognize that an AR is not going to produce results like a precision firearm ... but assuming the guy behind the scope can shoot properly I am wondering what kind of groups I should expect out of this setup at 100 yds?

Thanks

I would say 1.5-2.5 moa once you find ammo that the gun likes. Remmeber you can't just buy anny 223 ammo and expect it to shhot 1.5 moa, somme ammo mught shoot 1 moa out of your gun and some might shoot 5 moa.

Isn't that barrel a 1/7 twist? A few of the guys down South claim consistent under 1.5" with 75 gr. although I don't think the ammo is available here. IIRC Black hills 75 gr match was the ammo they used and using open sights.

Yes it is 1 in 7 twist ...

I only tried 100 yards with mine once. With Hornady 69 grain BTHP under a variey of Varget and H335 loads, the best I got was about four inches. The truth is that I'm not a very good shot though, so you might do much better.

Sweet gun huh?

Yup, it is a great gun, love it.

Yesterday at the range it was zero wind, I was using surplus Norinco ammo and I shot a 2.75" group at 100 yds ... just wondering if that is about as good as it's going to get or if I can narrow that down a bit?

I will also be trying some decent ammo, prob Federal since it is available here, but yesterday was the fist day on the scope ...

2.75 is decent for Norinco ammo. Your groups will shrink with the right quality ammo.
