Enfield no.4 Questions

Hello fellow gun nuts,

I've got a couple of questions for you regarding two of my enfields.

1. Can anyone tell me what factory this rifle was manufactured at? There were no manufacture marks on the left side of the receiver, just "No.4 Mk1"



2. Was it common for the Long Branch factory, or military armorers to swap out or replace magazines and stocks from no.4s before being sold on the civilian market as surplus? I bought a pristine condition Long Branch recently that came out of factory wrap (mid 90s), and although the bolt and receiver match, the stock and magazine do not.

If it had indeed been "in the wrap", chances are all numbers would have matched.

All parts appear to be long branch...

The stamping on the wrist is not Long Branch. Long Branch rifles are typically marked with an 'L' on the wrist in the serial number. The stampings here seem to indicate a British made rifle. If you post more pics, more people would be able to chime in.

In regards to the Long Branch, would there be any markings to indicate if it had been worked on by a weapons tech or Military armourer?

SMcGeown, only question #1 is referencing the photos. Question #2 is referring to a different rifle altogether... one with "Long Branch" clearly visible on the left side of the receiver

The LB in question is obviously not a factory new one if there are mismatched numbers involved.
