First I'll take it rules? or first emt?

Everyone operates a bit different but I only deal with one person at a time. I let other members know they are 2nd, 3rd etc in line. If initial buyer changes mind I move on to 2nd buyer. I personally wouldn't pull the rug out from someone.

I wonder if the second guy offered higher...

When I sell, the first agreed sale is golden. Anyone else who is negotiating with me (at any stage other than "deal"), gets put onto a list ("if the falls through, you're second" "I've got two guys ahead of you", etc).

I hadn't given much thought to why the EMT rule, until it was explained above - good explanation, makes good sense. I'm glad I have been working with the "first deal wins" - to prevent that mad rush to get EMTs done. Mind - if I strike a deal with someone, and that EMT can't or doesn't happen instantly, I'll give him a drop-dead time (24 hours?), then go on to the next "deal". But there is plenty of communication with the first deal before that goes south.

If someone is at the point of giving me details, and we've negotiated everything already, the item is theirs even if I get the equivalent of someone running up, shouting, with cash in hand, before the first party has paid.

Simply good manners n good ethics.

And, yes, I've lost a few bucks that way. So what? Hard to put a price on good karma.

What never get rejected at the High School dance?
Relax, Chive On and find another .22 to buy.
Dont deal with the guy if he/she has something listed that you are interested in to avoid further disappointments too.
My only real concern is the PAL info out there..but that is another topic for discussion.
You looking for a CZ 452 in .22?
If so pm me can work something out.
Rob

This is a good policy.
I dealt with one deal where the seller and I agreed on the price and I was going to send the money. Then he hits me up looking for 100 over asking because that's what someone else offered! I told him we already had a deal, but he took the other guys money.
No time for BS.

This sounds fishy already because one can only ship the firearm out AFTER the transfer completes with CFO AND the SATT arrives which both take some time that is NOT possible to accomplish between the time he asked you for your pal and the time you did EMT. Based on what you said, he had to start the transfer with the other guy BEFORE he asked you for your PAL info. This means he did this intentionally and maliciously. If you are not getting your money back, you can report this to RCMP as a business fraud, just like it happened to me on ebay a few years back.

He told me the gun has already been shipped to the other buyer :/ I haven't canceled it yet as I thought he would stick to the deal but it doesn't look that way

are you in Quebec?

he was buying a .22 RIFLE afaik

Always thought that "first emt wins" was a strange bird. First official " I'll take it", with emt to follow within 24 hours or it's off to the next guy in line, now that's how I roll.

I would say to the OP, while selling the firearm from under you after agreeing to sell it to you was not cool, I did notice one thing. You agreed to buy it, and then turned around and told him it would be the next day. I've been given the run around on a few deals that fell through, and that's the first thing that came to mind. They couldn't pay right now, but tomorrow, or the next day.

If you were buying an item from me, and said you'll take it, and then turned around and made me wait for 2-5 days, it's not really what I was looking for.

A few years back I was working a bizarre shift (16 hours on/ 16 hours off) and a lot of that time there was no cell coverage. I could still buy and sell here without missing a beat, and if I couldn't emt the seller, the girlfriend would.

I'd do the same in that situation.. lets see how it ends up..

Well I've worked out another deal with the seller, so this whole situation has been resolved, thanks for the input regardless guys

So this seller, who obviously was in the wrong, goes unknown. All because you guys came to a deal, what if the next guy isn't so lucky. Almost abusive of the rating system no?

did he pull another gun outta his butt? lol. how did you get the deal worked out if he had already shipped it to another person? and you let the EMT float around out there for him to take any time even after he screwed you? Sorry but this sounds about as fishy as this girl I knew in college... ;)

I made a deal with another fellow here the other day .got as far as figuring out how he wanted the cash sent ,then I went out to plow the drive way and I see a pm that he sold it to someone ells because I was away from the computer for 2 hours ,like wow ..just cannot keep everyone happy .Dutch

I would leave him a negative rating. A seller cannot leave you a negative rating I bet he told someone else that he already made a deal and they offered him more money. Some people are just greedy but karma always catches up with you

So did you work a deal ONLY because he already sold the rifle you wanted and the fact he took your money so felt obigated to buy something anyways? or that he wouldnt give you your money back?

He never took the money until we came to an agreement after the first gun was shipped that I was supposed to get. He realized what he did was wrong. He told me the night before when we had made arrangements that he had messaged me back saying he wasn't going to wait until the am for the emt, but I never got the message, he claims he sent that message to the wrong person after I told him I never got it and sent him pics of my inbox aswell as our conversation and agreement with me stating that I would take it. I didn't think of cancelling the emt at the time because I was so damn livid to find out he sold it to someone else. I'm still mad that I didn't get the original gun I wanted to purchase. You guys are right, for all I know he might've gotten offered more money then he was asking, it was a good deal. I sent him a link to this thread, I don't expect him to reply but who knows he might to state his side of it, but I wouldn't expect it

Your absolutely right, he sold me another rifle very similar to the one I wanted. I still got a hell of a deal, he lost out on quite a bit selling the first one for as cheap as he did, whatever he sold it for. But he also lost out on a lot of value on the one he sold to me aswell, as he realized what he had done and he did make it up to me
