I love the look of the dragunov SVD. I am to poor to buy one so I think I might buy a stock similar for my old SKS. Lets see your SVD or converted SKS. Anybody have problems or have been disappointed by converting their SKS? What scope did you go with?

First off the SVD is a prohib in canada. There is probably only a handful of them in the country if that and secondly there is a few svt40/ SVD clones threads already in the sub forum.

Actually there is 2 still on this first page

sti makes a stock for sks for dragunov....as well their is a video of someone on this forum who did a dragunov stock from scratch to fit an sks

Classified as AK variant

ok then I will go with the modified sks I just need to get a choate stock with a shell deflector and a scope mount on the rear sight. I don't think the magwedge rail will hold zero even if some on here say it does. will some how tell myself its a compact carbine version of the SVD.

How is it classified as an AK Variant, when for the most part its a completly different firearm. Unless the trigger groups are the same.

The PSL is just an RPK converted into a DMR but the Dragunov is completely different. There is a video on youtube, a really well done video, of two guys show the difference between the Dragunov VS the PSL. The Dragunov, when they take it apart, you will realize the gun is very similar in design to an SKS/Vz 58 hybrid.

CSA was working on a prototype .308 Vz 58. That would be pretty sweat because we could make our own Dragunov look alikes that are in fact, more similar to a Dragunov than a PSL.

There's been a few people making their own stock for an SVT-40, if you know your way around a woodshop I'd say that's your best bet.

Because politicians who knew nothing about guns, wrote it down in a regulation under a list of guns they associated as looking like an ak, and stated "the guns are prohibited."

Because they thought they looked scary. That is why.
