Hey Nutz,

I just bought a CZ455 with heavy barrel and wanted to put a 'tactical style' scope with parallax adjustment, adjustable turrets and a "decent" variable range. I was thinking about a 3-10 or 12, 4-10 or 12 and even saw a couple of used 5-15. My wife and I want to shoot some silhouettes, gophers, paper, play with some distance with the 22 as well and then train the kids on the same unit. I haven't bought anything but long range or high power rifle scopes in years. Any suggestions or experience here?

Hey bollox, I don't mind spending a little jack for something good, however I wanted to keep this scope under $400-ish. I was hoping to get something half decent for that.

Thanks doots, a buddy of mine speaks very highly of hirsch precision. I'll check that out. Thanks.

Bushnell AR, either 2-7x or 4.5-18x They both have BDC reticules and side focus for the parallax adjustment and target turrets. I have the 2-7x on a CZ512 22 mag and the 4.5-18x on a CZ455

I ordered a pride & fowler recently. I will let you know how it is when i run it. The bushnell banner I had in the savage was decent but it didn't have a special reticle.

If it's in the budget, Weaver Tactical 4-20.

Excellent and wholly under appreciated line of scopes. Japanese made, high quality glass and a solid set of features (adjustable parallax, target turrets, multi coated lenses, etc.)

NICE rig! Not quite where I wanted to go for a rimfire. I have one of these on my 7STW in a FFP Mil Dot reticle.

Thanks for the input guys. I looked around the local gun shops and ended up at Wholesale Sports. I was thinking a Vortex or Bushnell and the guy behind the gun counter was pretty helpful. He hooked me up with a Bushnell Legend Untra HD 4.5 - 14 x 44. Nice unit at a great price. Mounted it last night and I'll see if i'm clever enough to post a pic of the entire rig tonight.

Can't wait to get it out shooting; unfortunately for me, neither can my Mrs. She usually wins out as she can be very persuasive! Win win.

I put a Burris 4.5-14 x 42 on my CZ455 Varmint. The objective just clears the barrel and the objective measures 2.22"

For my American I ordered the Sightron SIH 4-12 x 40 AOHHR and the objective measures 2.06.

I went with the Bushnell AR 4.5 x 18 scope since I too love the side parallax adjustment like my Mark4 scopes. That .223 reticle sure looks neat and I cannot wait to try this baby out on some gophers this coming summer in Southern AB.

Enjoy the addiction

Cheers, Barney.

Thanks. Mine is a FFP MilDot too. I originally bought it for a .260 Rem target build, but decided to go in a different direction, so I figured why not throw it on the CZ, LOL!

Those Bushnell AR scopes are really decent for the money IMO. I just picked up one of the 1-4 versions and a Savage Axis SR in .223, should make for an interesting light coyote build.
