Time for a 22LR wheelgun... Choices... S&W 17/ Ruger 101/ Alpha steel... Inputs...

First, I prefer the P&R Smith's. Second I simply love deep, rich blued guns from the 70's (or earlier). And the older .500" trigger & hammer does a better job for me than the un serrated combat trigger the newer Smith's have. Owned probably 3-4 617's (6" & 8 3/8") and more model 17's. With a bit of trigger work they all have the same level of smoothness, accuracy is the same on both models vs. the same barrel length.

It all comes down to personnal preferences.

Sure they will, I found the 617 a tad muzzle heavy but just like the M17, it's scary accurate in both DA & SA. You have to watch that recoil when shooting full house magnums in that 29 thou!

Thought your M29 was recent production, not a dash 2.

Just found out, my revolver is the 29 Classic that came with the nice oak and blue velvet display case, they are making a run of them each year... JP.
 
Wheelgun in .22 lr?

Get the S&W hands down.

Most fun would be to get a Model 63 or Model 18 with 4" barrel.

I have one of each & really, really, really like 'em.

Did I mention I really like 'em?
