Needing help with my M&P 9. I find that the gun shoots low.....really low if I use the sights as intended. I am wondering if anybody else had this issue and what was done to remedy the issue. Also, does anybody know if any retailer stocks adjustable rear sights for the M&P. Any advice would help.

I haven't had a chance to run my M&P enough yet.. but also had a question regarding the sight. It seems when I line the top of the posts up, the dots are not quite aligned.,

Most people agree that M&P uses combat sight picture as in pic 3 below.

Groups are reasonable(2.5") but with an aim point at the middle of the A zone on an IPSC target, the group is 3-4" below the bottom of the A zone. Now I am new to combat games so maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Here's the other thing I found a little strange. If I shoot the gun bullseye style( one handed) the group is closer the point of aim. Still a little low but only about an inch.

Ok so now I get " combat sighting" but for me to get the group in the area of POA my front sight has to be so high that the dots form a triangle. I'm thinking that if I could find an adjustable rear sight or a lower front sight that might solve my problem. Any thoughts.

How close are you shooting. Most pistols are sighted for 25 yards, and will shoot lower as you get closer. Flinching will make this worse.

I don't shoot my m&p for bullseye groups, so i just put the front dot on the target, and the rear dots close to level with the front dot. (Honestly, I don't really see the rear dots most of the time).

i know for sure that a flinch is not a problem. I am, however, shooting indoors so 10 meters. When I aim I don't use the dots I line up the top of the front and rear sights. I guess this is a throw back to my bullseye days. BTW thank you everybody that responded. I would really like to make this gun work for me.

It's a little strange, but you have to align the top of the front and rear sights, with the dot basically on target. I would expect about 1" low, maybe a little less. 3-4" seems really low.

I know i'm shooting this M&P low but I think it is my trigger press. The design of the hinged trigger has me pulling down on the trigger rather than straight back. When I shot the glocks, my trigger press was a bit sideways and i'd shoot groups to the left. I really need to work on my grip, sight alignment, and trigger press. back to the range!

With my M&Ps, I keep the tops of the sights level, and put the front sight dot where I want the bullet to go.
Having said that, I installed Dawson Precision adjustable sights on my Pro, and have Williams adjustable Firesights on my M&P.
It is very useful to be able to actually adjust the sights as desired.

I was always under the impression with black on black sights you shoot 6'oclock hold. If it has dots, front dot is the POI.
Black/black is good for slow aimed target shooting, dots are good for close range combat type shooting.
Now....I'm still trying to decide what to do with my SAM Thunderbolt that has a nice LPA adjustable target rear sight but 3 dot sights....lol

Where can one source Dawson Sights?

I have the same problem. Maybe it's my technique, but I find it very problematic that the front-sight dot is small and kinda floats around in the rear sight notch between the two rear-sight dots. Generally I find [at 7-10 yds] that I have to put the front dot level with the top of the rear sight. Either that or deliberately aim for the throat of a silhouette target to get 10-ring hits. Annoying....

Dots are there for quick reference.

Image 2 is correct for most combat style handguns (regardless of dot alignment) and image 1 for bullseye.
