Good day everyone

Just wanted to post up that it looks like the poker rally shoot is slated for July 11/12 2015! This will be held at the same venue as last year . The area is kind of central between Edmonton and Calgary !

The buy in will be 75$/per adult or 125$ for a family of four and kids under 16 shoot free for the two days of this event. We are working on finalizing the course in the next two weeks , so I will get this out to everyone when it is available . The shoot is open to families

Now the premise behind this event is you load your rifle on your quad or truck and take trails and roads to various shooting positions and engage targets at unknown distances. Then proceed to the next station on your map till you have completed the course. At each station you will engage targets that are assigned to cards that will be laid out at random by the RSO that is attending each shooting station . At the end of the shoot the hands will be tabulated and prizes will be awarded on Saturday evening.

There is camping in the area and I encourage people to bring your RV's if you have them . I will be in contact with the Chef that did an awesome job on the pig roast last year to confirm he is still able to attend this year. Now I shouldn't have to mention this but no drinking during the event will be tolerated ! You will be asked to leave and not refunded your entry fee!! After the event fill your boots and have fun tho!

I am starting the list and would ask that you prepay before the 25 of June 2015. I am accepting EMT's, cash and checks . I will be making up an entry form that will be sent out to you and will need to be forwarded with your payment . I will have all these details worked out in the next few days here. I have 40 spots open and by the amount of interested guys spots are filling fast !

This shoot is open to any caliber you have and the max distance we will be shooting is 500m with a few extra targets farther out to 1200, unless I find another spot that will stretch farther. You will need 28 rounds to run the course.Range finders are allowed .

I look forward to seeing everyone from last year out there for this shoot and meeting some new faces ! As a side note I should mention that there is a good chance things could be muddy! So be prepared for this in the event it rains or we have a ton of water !

UPDATE on the camping
I will be booking the campsites in the next couple days here. Once they are booked I will be asking everyone to pay for the sites with in ten days . With the amount of people booking this year I cant carry that kind of money on my card for three months . So if you booked a stall please keep checking back to confirm with this

There is still more stuff coming in just waiting on some images and confirmation on some donations . So as everyone can see we are well on our way to another great list of Vendors that have really stepped up and are donating some great stuff this year . I will be adding more to this post as it comes in .

I'm relatively new to cgn and this is new to me and sounds interesting. Can we have some more detail about the logistics?
Are we camping in one spot and then driving out to the various shooting sites? Are we talking distance in hours or minutes apart?
Is this crown land, so that people do some skeet throwing out of the way for fun when the tourne isn't running or is that frowned upon?
Are there really big bonfires in the evening or does each family stick to themselves?


Sorry for the machine-gun method of questioning.

If you like rifles, off road vehicles and hanging out with a great bunch of folks, THIS is the 1.
Last year it was about a 15 minute drive from base camp to the staging area. The campground is roughly 3 hours from Calgary depending on how many morons are on the QE2 when you leave.
Most of the shooting sites are several minutes of off road time apart, more than I would want to walk for sure.

Last year was a year of fire bans so nothing big was lit up. Camping is generally an activity where everyone is on a level playing field so mingling is common. Like any get together it is what you make it. We had a great time, good fun, time to play with our toys and guns, all good in my book.
Not sure about the shotgun thing but would think not the best idea.

Rick pretty much summed it all up , as for the shot guns there is tons of crown land around the area and your welcome to fill your boots after the event , but your risking missing out on the pig roast and some wobbly pops with the great bunch that shows up for this shoot .

The option was there last year to buy extra hands but no one took advantage of it , so I decided to drop it this year . If there is enough people that wanted it I would add it back into the rules and have it ready to go at the shoot .
 
I think you can count us in for at least two.
I told my dad about it and he ordered a new rifle today so he could participate instead of just having to watch.

Will the purchase of extra hands increase the chance of going home with more prizes?
I know it's just for fun but I perform better under pressure when there is
More on the line. :)
Guess I'm just not sure on exactly how it will works.
 
Your odds will increase for sure , last year the top prize we gave away was a brand new 870 and it was won with a full house by Dmay. Last year everyone walked away with a prize of some sort that was close to the cost of admission. We gave away over 7000$ worth of prizes .
