My new savage

Hi guys just wanted to show off my new rifle. It's a savage 114 american classic in 270. I got a s reaming deal on it with no scope so I put a vortex 4-12×44 bdc reticle on it. I love this gun.






And a shameless plug for my new knife.

Looks like a fairly skookum barrel too. That's the only real bad thing about the Savage is the length of the action and subsequent difficulty in mounting a scope. The rail accomplishes it, but I'm not a fan of the look of them or the restricted access to the loading port.

Nice looking wood on that rifle. One of these days I'll get a nice wood stocked rifle instead of plastic.

Big ugly,it's a detachable mag, so restricting the loading port is a non issue. I kinda like the look of the one piece base myself.

I hope that the eye relief is correct for you, as it looks like you have very little adjustment , with the mounting system that you chose.

Eye relief is perfect, I had the rings at home and got lucky with the eye relief. Otherwise would have had to go with a higher ring.

I saw that. I still like the access for clearing jams, but that' snot real frequent. I've never owned a true DBM bolt rifle unless you count the A-Bolt.

Nice rifle, I was thinking about getting one as well.
I have a 116fcss (plastic stock) in 7mm mag and it's a real shooter but the wood sure looks nice.

why is it that savage had such a bad name for so long, growing up my father had nothing good to say about them, now its kind of engrained in me, but the more I see of them and hear of the good shooter they are im changing my mind. Ive looked a few that I would not buy the real cheap rifles, but this 1 and the likes look real good.
