Identifying Krag Rifles?

Ran into a few Norwegian Krags. Im interested but the problem is I don't know enough about them to identify the model, and therefore determine weather or not the barrel has been cut. Both are sporters.

I could not find any particular model markings on them. Only years. Did I miss something?

Any help would be appreciated, always wanted a Krag.
 
Get a measurement of the barrel length. Chances are the barrel has been cut if it is a sporter. What is the caliber? Quite a few sporters in this country were converted from 6.5x55 to 6.5x54 MS.
I have a 6.5x54 sporter and an 1895 Norwegian Cavalry carbine and an 1899 US carbine. They are nice rifles. Locations of the sling swivels also help identify various models. There is also a serial number list on the net.
Be warned though that if they are Norwegian Krags it is not advised to shoot off the shelf ammo for either the 6.5x54 or 6.5x55 as the ammo is too hot for the action. You can shoot off the shelf ammo for the 30 30 Krag as they are loaded to lower pressures. However the ammo is not cheap as far as buying off the shelf 30 40.

Check the date. If befor it could be an 1894 and after 1912 it could be a 1912 modle. That's a start. Post a photo
