If AR's became NR, would XCR owners trade their XCR's for an AR of equal value...

It's not about safety.

It is about CONTROL.

Only change of status for AR's will be to go prohibited.

As soon as lieberals get in power.

Before the AR went restricted, did something bad happen with an AR? It pretty much looks and does the same thing as the XCR and su 16 ( that I used to own does). I'm new and only have a yrs experience and can not understand how or why a AR is restricted.Who let this happen? Any fool can see that an AR 15 is more dangerous than any other firearm.

Unfortunately that's probably true.
It's been long enough now that most of the sheeple will have forgotten all the scandals and corruption the Lie-beral a-holes were caught in.
I hope and pray that we never see a Lie-beral or NDP majority but it's probably inevitable. That will be a very bad day for any firearms owners or anyone who doesn't want the nanny state to get even worse.

Why does everyone assume that if they use a little common sense and remove the AR from the restricted by name list that they would still keep the barrel length restriction as it stands now?
A longer barrel doesn't make a rifle any safer and since they are selling them to licensed people who have gone through a security check and jumped through all the hoops it makes no sense to say that we can't use shorter barrel firearms away from a range. If they make the AR non restricted they should also permit licensed firearms owners to use pistols away from the range.
The current laws don't make anything or anyone safer, criminals don't care if they are breaking the law and are going to get their hands on the tools they need to commit their crime of choice regardless of any rules or laws that are in place. If we were truly innocent until proven guilty licensed owners would be trusted to use any firearm in a safe manner anywhere and then have that privilege revoked if we act irresponsibly.

Reclassified of the AR is a stretch of enough. Hoping they reclassify the AR and barrel length..........unfortunately not going to happen. Not asumming anything. Not saying I don't agree with everything you said but your asking our government to use common sense in a matter that is common sense to shooter/gun owners only.

I've never owned an XCR and only shot one once or twice, but if the AR went non-restricted I'd buy another one in a heart beat. I own a 7.5" AR purely for the fact that I accepted I'd only ever be able to shoot on the range, and restricted is restricted. I also own a Tavor, but I would gladly be able to see it's resale value plummet when it lost the advantage of being NR, if I could take a .308 AR out hunting. I enjoy the ergonomics and controls of an AR, apart from the charging handle.

Also, all this is with the hope that AR prices would stay the same and everything NR (Tavor, XCR, SU-16, etc) would drop accordingly.

I bet ar prices would rise. The entire NR market would be open to them. Doubtfull they would reach the premium my xcr cost me tho.

It's not really about how it went restricted but rather how it did not go prohibited. The OIC's of the day back in the formation of C17 and C68 wanted the AR15 in the list of prescribed prohibited weapons. The Dominion of Canada Rifle Association (DCRA) stood up against this decision sighting that the DCRA needs to have a firearm not on the probib list that can compete against military issued rifles. The AR15 was the logical choice against the C7. Seeing that the DCRA received royal assented on July 7, 1890, and that bucking that with OIC that would end such competitions for civilians would look very bad on Parliament not to mention that the DCRA was looked at with high regard from London. It was decided that the AR15 would slip through as restricted.

nough said about what?
If the AR went non restricted we should all buy the crappiest AR available? No thanks.
Especially not when there are US and Canadian built ones around the $1000 mark these days.

You''re wasting your time. Some people need to learn the hard way

I know, that's why I took a little CGN timeout the last few weeks. Got so tired of the same silly questions asked every day even when there was one just like it 3 lines down that had already been answered.
I still feel I need to try.
