Hey Guys,
Was just looking through the Ontario huntings regs and couldn't find the open shotgun & rifle season for deer in WMU 87A or 80. Can someone give me a hand?
NOW THATS FUNNYWould a couple of clap claps do or do you want a standing ovation?? LOL

I'm reading through the fall 2014 - spring 2015 Ontario Regs and according to what I'm reading......if I want to hunt deer in WMU's 86A, 86B, 87A or even for WMU 80 which is a f#%^ing massive area, I have to enter a draw to get a tag and then there is only a very limited time to hunt. Is this accurate? I didn't realize when getting my hunting license I was going to have to plan a road trip just to hunt deer without applying for a draw and being limited to a few days of hunting.
I live near Cambridge/ KW in Ontario. Am I missing something about what I've read?
Just apply for "Control Hunt" in August. You'll receive the required Tag which is good for both male/female. Then you'll buy the actual license to go hunt in usually the first week of November. You are legally allowed to hunt with SG during the control hunt for 6 days. This is more than enough to harvest your game. All you need is a quality Slug SG and a scope. The most accurate SG's are those with rifled barrels like Browning A12 or Savage 212 or 220.
The new Hornady SST slugs are accurate to 200m.
Why is it that half the time when I ask a question and look for help I get some really stupid answers that have nothing to do with offering any help or guidance.

I don't understand why bow season is longer? What difference does it make? A deer is still dead. I don't think it matters whether it's been killed by a bow or a shotgun.......it's still dead.
Also, just got my small game license not long ago.......the lady at the window explained that I have to buy a 1 year small game permit, then another 1 year small game permit after the first expires, THEN I can purchase a 3 year small game permit. So at the end of 2016/beginning of 2017 I can buy my 3 year small game permit. WTF? This came about because I was trying to buy the 3 year permit right away. She couldn't give any explanation for the logic behind it but was very friendly and helpful. Is it just a big game of "let's make random rules" or "pick a rule out of a hat" at the higher levels or what?
There are far fewer bow hunters than the rest. The season is stretched out to give ample time to keep the deer numbers in check. Bow hunting is also less distruptive to both NIMBYs and wildlife patterns.
There's no price break on the 3 year small game anyway, it's just a convenience thing. The 3 year cards come pre-printed (not a sticker). If all she had was one year stickers, that's all she can sell you.
