I have a nightforce shv 5-20x56 coming. It will be going on a remington 700 sps 16.5" heavy barrel. I would like to put a nightforce 20 moa base one or two. As well as nightforce rings(then they don't need to be lapped, however important that is) but I seem to be out of luck with anybody having them in stock. What is my best 2nd option without spending more than I would I on nightforce. I don't want to buy something just to replace it with something better. I also want to be able to sight in when spring comes in manitoba. Just so I can keep rambling on, do I wait for back ordered nightforce parts?

The other option would be to spend LESS money on better product.

If you are not set on NF , you should look at the options from NEAR ( Camrose , AB )

http:// w.nearmfg.com/

I have both NF Unimount, and NEAR Alpha mount and I prefer the Alphamount ( in all fairness more $$ ) .

The NEAR bases have recoil lugs , unlike some of the other picatinny bases out there . Just picked one up for my Weatherby MK V .

If you don't think you will ever move the scope over to another rifle on a regular basis ( ie picatinny base ) , then look at the NEAR direct mount ( base for REM 700 and Unimount all in one ! ) . You can see a pic of them on his website

If you contact Richard and let him know rifle make / model and scope make model , he will figure out all the rest ( lots of height options etc )
