NEA-15 Question and commentary

Hey guys,

First off, I have a fairly simple question. I have no idea how to differentiate the different NEA-15 generations, and I'm really curious as to when my rifle was built.

On a darker note, I haven't shot it yet, but had to send the bolt carrier back to them so they could fix a broken screw that fell off the gas key and that I found laying at the bottom of the box when I opened it up...

Initial thoughts : WTF did I just get myself into.

Customer service was very good and very fast though...
 
Serial number and/or date?

Their carrier key screws usually shear after you have fired them. Unfired out of the box is a new one :(
 
I have only put a couple hundred rounds through a 7.5" NEA15 I recently bought, I have had absolutely no problems at all. All this talk is making me worried though..

I was next to a guy shooting a white NEA at poco last week, I moved 3 stalls over...
Dont want pieces of shrapnel in my scrotum or my ass when his barrel and upper explode.
I suggest you all do the same.
This might actually be a your ##### will fall off rifle.
 
Regardless of my poor life choices, do any of you guys actually know how to figure out the date of production on this hunk of aluminium?
 
I've got one on the way, it's used and the guy says it has given him zero issues and his trader rating is high so I'm hoping for the best, although replacing the bolt and a few other parts (cough, flash suppressor, cough) is pretty standard practice for me anyways. I've read a lot of reviews on NEA in the last while and when they're good, they're great but when they're bad they're catastrophic. Maybe for your first hundred rounds wear a welders face mask? Might look stupid at the range, but unless your old lady really digs scars...
 
Why the f$&ck do people keep buying these pieces of garbage?

I can't believe they're still in business with all the issues they have.
 
I bought it because, although they have many issues, it always seems to revolve around the bolts and/or bolt carriers. Rarely have I read about a barrel problem, or an upper/lower problem. I know 5+ years to figure out how to make a proper bolt assembly is sub-standard, but the weapon itself is very reasonably priced, and comes with a life time warranty and great customer support (from my experience). That's why I think most people keep buying them. Worst comes to worst, I'll stick a Spike's tactical bolt assembly or a BCM in the SOB and be done with it. If I experience barrel issues or anything graver, I might consider never buying one again. BUT, even with all that said, they still make a striped lower that is of good quality, and that you can by for under 100$.

I think the fact that they are a Canadian company also contributes greatly to the fact that people are willing to give them a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chance to get it right.

The Lower I got from SFRC on blow-out starts with 13. I believe my friends "Z" marked Lower also begins with 13

I think people just want to invest their $$ into a Canadian Co and support a Canadian business. Maybe that's why so many give them a chance (?). It's exactly what I was thinking when I jumped on the SFRC sale.
 
Selling your customers garbage is not good customer service. While they seem to be quick to replace broken parts, the fact that they still make it out the door is mind blowing.

I can appreciate buying Canadian but I won't hand my money over to a company that doesn't respect me enough as a customer to sell me a solid product.

I 100% agree with this. The amount of defects that make it through QC is actually FUBAR.
