45 acp enfields

I've never been 100% happy withe the extractor and ejector setup on mine.

What does the head on a .308 chambered Enfield look like? Seems to me the case head on the .308 and the .45 ACP are dimensionally pretty close, no? Could one (assuming headspace is properly seen to) swap in an ex-.308 bold head with its extractor and solve some of the issue?

I checked the fit of the forestock - there's definite contact in the channel. I assume this is mandatory, but can one free-float a stubby lil' barrel like this and get good results?

Yep, like Lou said - it's a wise move with this setup.

I liked the 25 m result quite a bit:

Good shooting - and entirely characteristic for this rifle.

My DCRA 308 has an extractor with a longer 'claw' it works but not always 100%. East to make one. A 44 mag or 45 long colt would be easier.

oh I saw an interesting mag mounted ejector system that looks good, I'll have to look for pics

Finally made it to the range to test it out. Shoots good, prefers round nose bullets feeds SWC ok about 75% of the time. Unfortunately the spring loaded ejector broke after 10 rounds.
Has anyone found another method/setup for an ejector that doesn't involve milling a channel in the bolt.

Here's mine. I just finished the assembly today. The stock is ugly but until I decide what I want long term it will do.

I Don't often post but thought I would share. I Made a new bolt head with a collar and a spring loaded ejector in the mag adapter. I get reliable function with ball nose and when the bolt is worked fast but the occasional hang up can happen. Here is a link to a quick movie of me shooting it. I was testing out my new contour camera. http://vid1109.photobucket.com/albums/h431/enfieldlithgow/45%20enfield_zpslkaav34h.mp4

Thanks for the video, I will try your setup, looks like a much better option.

Awesome. Mine is broke where you insert the screwdriver. Still functional but I'd like to pick another one up. Thanks!

Lee Enfield .45ACP conversion kits - from the early posts in this thread I understand that kits were available from "juanvaldez" of North Shore Barrels. The website is down.

Does anyone know if these kits will be available again from that source OR of any other source in Canada. I checked with Special Interest Arms of Nevada who have a kit, but will not /cannot ship to Canada.

Responses will be very much appreciated; would very much like to get my hands on one of the kits. Are they now in the "unobtanium" category?

I have one that I have never put together. I bought it 4 years ago, well intentioned to assemble it. Might offer it up. I think all in I paid north of $400 for the package.

Nice setup ye have there.:) I'm leaving mine as is as far as wood goes, but I did drill an tap the receiver for the TO1 Weaver base. My eyes ain't gettin' any younger, but I can still hit clay bird sized objects with 'er out
to 80 plus yds. from a rest.
