Multiple projectile loads should I bother experimenting with these

I modified an old mold to cast these as an experiment. 68grs each. I was thinking of putting three in a 357 case. I think only two will fit in a 38 spl. Anyone have any load data for a 205 gr projectile in a 357 mag?

These measure .250 high

Why not experiment? Always fun to see what happens with your own attempt.
Double balls in a muzzle loader has a long history and I've done many times.

There must be some data out there from all the things silhouette shooters have tried for knocking down steel. That might be a search term worth trying.

Let us know how it goes.

I have done it whenever I come across a batch of bullets too light for my usual shooting. Load 3 and you will be surprised at how well they shoot & group.

Start loads

4227 - 10

Herco - 5.5

Blue Dot - 8.5

2400 - 10

H110/296 - 12

If you have a Chrony, any load under 1200 fps is fine.

After perusing the web I found some data to start with
in powder I have available to me. I will probably start lower
as I'm not looking for magnum loads.

It was suggested that a wad be placed between the bullets.

357 Magnum

Red Dot Starting load 4.1gr Max 4.6gr 990fps

Bullseye Starting load 4.8gr Max 5.3gr 1085fps

2400 Starting load 9.0gr Max 10.0gr 1225fps

231 Starting load 5.0gr Max 5.5gr 1060fps

They should work very similarly to the "Glaser Safety Slugs" that used to be available a couple of decades back. IIRC they were originally intended for police use. There were supposedly issues with over penetration with misses while in apartments and the regular bullets going through into the next room.

Again, IIRC, they were loaded to around 850fps in a 38 spcl.

I never tried wads. Space is at a premium. Bullets group about 2" at 25 yds.

the military multi ball ammo was made with intentional out of alignment 2nd and 3rd projectiles to increase spread, they found that you would hit a target or miss a target with all 3 otherwise

Did the measurements and 3 bullets will fit into a 38 spl

38 Special

Red Dot Starting load 2.5gr Max 2.8gr 725fps

Bullseye Starting load 2.7gr Max 3.0gr 760fps

2400 Starting load 6.3gr Max 7.0gr 870fps

231 no data

They still make them, but whether they are available in Canada I don't know. It's hooked up with Cor-Bon now. The original design was for Air Marshals in the 70s.

Now that would be a fun way to mess with someone once you get it worked out ;)

Clint's classic 6 or 5 shots line doesn't flow as smoothly as it originally did, but funny none the less :p

"ahh, ahh, I know what you're thinking, did he fire 18 shots or only 15 ?"

I've done this in the 45-70. Just keep them against each other when you load (no gaps). As for grouping, at 100 yds they ended up 2-3" apart.
