Looking at getting a short shotty but can't decide which to get. The 14" Ricol O/U or a 12" Yildiz Tombstone SxS.
Just something to take to the outhouse with me in case a bear wants to ruin my morning sh*t.:runaway:LOL!
Any reviews on either one of these?

Russ...

Love my Ricol. Interchangeable chokes, so you can actually go for grouse if you want, although I wouldn't try upland.

Couple of threads in the Corwin-Arms sub-forums about them:

This other thread is incredibly long, and covers the entire genesis of the Ricol from when the idea was first pitched to Martin at Corwin arms, to when they finally arrived in country and people started buying them and taking them out and shooting them. Overall, people are quite happy with them. I'll link to the page where the shooting reviews start coming in:

I have no experience with the Yldiz, although I know they do make a fine firearm and are well thought of. I don't think the Yldiz is set for chokes - cylinder bore only. Although someone might correct me of that.

there are some reviews of the yldiz by one of our gunnutz members and i believe it was carvek . he has video of slug and buckshot at the range . i seem to remember that he harvested a deer with it as he hunts on the west coast . how to find his video is not something i know how to do .

I think everyone's love for the shorty-double goes back to The Road Warrior.

Yeah I checked, not a common regularly stock item by Hatsan dealers. The longer field version is moreso, which is north of $800.
Bell Lifestyle is the importer, so should be simple enough to order.

I have Ricol quality is very good, it is 14 inch so OK for hunting regs in BC. Plus screw in chokes really put this gun on completely higher usability level then other shorties on the market

It would be nice if any of the manufacturers of these short shotguns would make rifled barrels for them. They would make Ideal guns for brush hunting deer and other game. Regular slugs work but I would rather have the capability of longer shots with sabots not to mention improved performance even at closer range.

To Brian46,

Rifled barrels are impossible for Turkish shotgun makers to make, it is their firearms legislation but on the new model we did something to have some rifling available. Both models are 20ga with 16 inch barrels and one barrel will have option of partial rifling to give enough twist for shooting sabot slugs. Please don't mind the background on the photos they are from rough assembly area

What about these extended rifled chokes? Has anybody tried one?

Works good in my Warrior Backpacker, but the threading is different for the Ricol (different choke type)... If I get some time tonight I'll photograph the two different choke sets side by side and post. I was kinda hoping the chokes would be interchangeable between the two guns, but they are most definitely not.

Dang, I keep buying lots of stuff off of Martin... But he does bring in the most interesting toys.
