Hey guys,
Just wanted to let you know that a KRG Bolt Lift knob will very nicely fit on a Savage 93R17 (and similar) bolts!! I ended up ordering one online from McMillan Stocks in the US. Total with USPS shipping was $38.00USD. https://www.mcmillanusa.com/product/tactical-bolt-knob/
I contacted KRG direct and they were able to provide me with a list of several Canadian distributors that I tried first but no one had any in stock. A few days after I ordered it, Corlane Sporting Goods in Dawson Crk BC emailed me that they now have some in stock. www.corlanes.com
So I wasn't sure if the KRG Bolt Lift was going to fit and the only other available option for a larger/tactical bolt knob for a Savage like mine was to grind off the knob, turning it into a 'post' that you then thread and attach an aftermarket, threaded bolt knob. If you are interested in doing that method, there is a fantastic step by step write up with pictures here: http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=321755
So since the KRG Bolt Lift is made of plastic halves, I figured if I had too, I could always modify the material and/or grind the existing bolt knob to make it work/fit. Turns out you don't have too! I used the supplied o-ring spaces (x1 large & x1 small) and bolted both halves tightly together and she's tight and works like a charm!
There is some MINOR side to side play where the bolt handle meets the opening of the bolt lift. I did not experience this 'play' when working the action. You could always firm up the opening with some hot glue (non-permanent) or some epoxy/JB Weld if so desired.
