Ruger AR556 coming to Canada?

Careful .... slag any of the big name AR 15's and you've gored someone's ox.

I think I read once that about four companies are making receivers for just about all AR 15 makers. Ruger is undoubtedly making a lot of their own parts in house. I think they read the market right in offering a direct impingement AR 15.

That's because their piston gun is a joke. And everyone is making ars. So why not ruger, although for us it's not that great of a deal.

The companies that make the raw aluminum forgings can be counted on one hand.

FSB's are supposed to look rough, it's an indication that it's been made properly, following the TDP.

I just bought one, I'll let you know if it's a joke - might take a while, that isn't the kind of determination I'd make without putting 5-10K through one. As long as the piston doesn't cause issues everything else seemed properly put together. Given what I paid (just over $1,000) I figured it would be good for shzts and giggles, not having spent any time with a piston AR.
 
What about Ruger Sr556E from P&D Enterprises in Edmonton. Retail for $1270.00 not bad to be honest cuz by the time you get it here you will be looking at $1000 - $1100 range.
Either which way both are out of my price range unless I can get rid of my Trap Gun. Anyone interested? lol

That's all the companies that have made forgings since the original AR design. Just a handful are currently making AR forgings.

Anyway, it doesn't matter.

So, no answer as to why their piston gun is a joke? Seems to do OK in various reviews, haven't heard of any going kaboom? What about shooting it makes you feel it's a joke? Trigger pull? reliability? Ability to use common AR parts? Fit or finish? Accuracy?

It's overweight, suffers from carrier tilt... which seems to either have been resolved or not in the e model depending on who you talk to, indicating possibly soso qc.

The rental model at calgary shooting center had a very short life before it got taken off the shelf. So while some shooters that shoot 50 rounds a year probably won't have any problems with it, if you run your gear hard, it will probably fail.

The propietary parts in this gun is a no go as well... then again all piston guns tend to use propietary parts. If you don't mind waiting or have spare parts lined up go nuts.

The recoil impulse from the one I shot was harder than a di gun and not as consistant as the only other piston ar I tried(mr223 different price bracket but piston gun as well)

As for the seems to do ok in various reviews I have yet to see someone serious review one.

And despite going discount pricing on us, you can still grab a myriad of mid range di ars that will perform on par or better at a similar or better price ala windham, core 15, bushmaster, colt 6920 etc.
