358 win mag

I'm with you SJ.......flattened primers can be caused by too much head space but expanded primer pockets, never. This is the quintessential indicator of TOO much pressure, I should know, I'm the expert on expanded primer pockets......:d:d:redface::redface: God I wish someone would make primers like main bearings....1, 2 and 3 thou over would cut my rifle brass costs to 20% of what they are now.

Just think of his handle............meetyourmaker

Me pense it should be spelt meety our maker

Now ya dun skeerd him away.....tsk tsk tsk

I think he also goes by the name "hotshot",..... I received a PM a while ago,...it was titled " 358 Win Mag ",...the guy that sent it went by the name "hotshot",....he was asking about the 358 and telling me he had some TTSX 200GR and Lapua 308 brass,....sounds like same guy to me. I replied telling him about my thoughts and experience with the 358win, and I also gave him a couple of my pet load recipes, and suggested if he were going to try them to start a bit lower and work his way up just to be safe, but I guess my advice was not even close to what he was looking for because I never heard from him again, lol, untill this thread popped up and he is trying to make a 358 win into a 358 Win Mag.

yes, 2700 will be attaianable, but I'm afraid for the primer pockets being enlarged and no good for reloading.
Even though I wasnt getting stiff bolt lift, deeply cratered primers, or even shiny cases at the bottom....at 2600, my primer pockets were enlarged and discarded. That was with TAC POWDER and using Lapua 260 brass. I'll be using 308 brass next go-around. AND, yeah its 358WIN for the readers sake.
I GOTTA go make some money

If you want 2700 fps with 200 gr bullets suggest you use 308 Lapua Palma brass. Small rifle magnum primers will have lots of ignition flame. I use Lapua Palma brass for a few loads that expand Lapua 308 LR primer pockets. Record all the data possible when working these loads up. I suggest you measure cartridge extractor groove diameter before and after firing. When extractor groove expands even the tiniest amount respect that load as being over max.
