Bought the dream rifle, or bought the farm, today.

Well, the waiting is the hardest part. IIRC, Ross Seyfried has written that RL15 can be used in place of cordite, I think I remember the ratio, but obviously that isn't good enough.

I'll have to look that up, could be a useful thing to have on hand as I have a fair bit of RL15 and cordite proofed rifles seem to call my place home fairly frequently.

The formula is 1.19 to the charge of cordite. That gives you a starting point. But it really is just a .375 H&H with a rim, so it's not so complicated to reload for as the larger nitro-expresses can be.

Reloading...no problem. Getting a load to shoot both barrels to the sights...more of a challenge.

Maybe we should have a pool of how many shots it takes our intrepid huntsman to work up a business load that shoots to the sights. Have a 50/50 pot split between the winner and the NFA/CSSA. Davey...?

It might not take as long as you think it could....there are some good resources out there including "reloading the British double" by Graeme Wright.

I'm game and would stay out of it as a third party of course for impartial data and loading efforts. :)

I've ordered the British Double book, but will likely just work up from a safe min load in pairs looking for promise. First H4895, then RL15 if the 4895 doesn't work. Will settle on the Hornady solid I believe as the "standard", and also work with the 300gr RN Hornady. Not a high tech or highly regarded bullet but it's done a lot of good work for me, and has a reliable supply.

I hope YOU have a reliable supply as the 300gr RN has been discontinued in favor of the 300gr DGX.

Thanks guys and Doug I'll have to haul it along and some ammo whenever I come through the Kootenays. Dying to shoot a turkey and here they are found out that way.

I've seen a pile of Turkey just 30 minutes south of Doug.

Post the shooting video that results from that range trip online. Let's see how fast two aimed shots can be let off in a rifle that fits so well.
