I just received my CSA VZ61 380 acp. first impression is it looked exactly like my zastava M84 32 acp.

lets begin with what you get for your money .

with the 32acp, zastava and CSA you get 2- 20rds mags , 1- 10rds , a mag pouch, a rifle pouch and cleaning tools.

with CSA 380 acp, you get 2 plastic mags , cleaning brush and a shipping plastic case.

upon closer look , there are some differences .

external : the finishing , CSA seems more durable , my M84 had some paint peeling off.
the M84 milled out the back of the receiver to accommodate the wire stock, the stock can be removed very easily , just depress a pin and slide off, this look like the original method . with CSA you have to undo two screws which are not easily accessible. the stock from CSA appears to fit into the M84 but the M84 stock will not fit into the CSA.

I found the safety lever of the CSA easier to operate , to fire the lever moves forward while the M84 moves rearward , alittle awkward to operate with the thumb also the CSA lever moves smoother .

the plastic mag is a bit sticky to get in and out , I prefer the metal mags , even tho my two VZ61 are different caliber the mags will fit and lock with each other but probably not work well with each other tho.

internal : the M84 has milled out the inside to accommodate a buffer , it comes with the buffer mechanism, I remove mine bcos it save 100g weight and also I don't believe its needed . in a full auto the buffer acts like a reducer . the CSA is not milled for the buffer so no buffer mechanism came with it .

both weight 1200g with no stock , no mag and no buffer. the metal mag weight approx. 100g and the plastic is approx. 50g , the stock weight about 120g

I have taken my M84 to the range once and its quite a fun gun to fire , no recoil so I can imagine in full auto it would be easy to control . I cant wait to try out the 380 .

Cool review Curtton

Yes the 380 has a bit more bite which is nice but either way they are both tons of fun to blast at paper with

Now we just need CSA to finish the 22lr skorpion and my full set will be complete (minus 1 Evo III skorp)

would have been much nicer if they didn't include clear plastic mags ,imho it kind of ruined the look.
something similar to the zastava would have fit much better even if it was dark black plastic in the same shape.

thanks for the review curtton. ive been wondering about the possible differences between the two companies. how different are they? any chance you could post a picture of the insides of the csa?

thanks

the main differences are in the rear of the receiver , my M84 came with buffer 2.5 years ago and also there was milling to allow the wire stock to slide in and out easily .

CSA 380 had no milling for the buffer (not needed imo) and wire stock is screwed in .

I bought my m84 skorpion for that feature since that was the only interesting design feature the skorps have. Mine came without the hook which annoyed me. Not like zastava didnt have a pile of those things laying around. I understand it is useless in semi auto mode but it still would have been nice to have those extra parts.

How does your M84 behave without the buffer? I was always puzzled by this unit in there... I might take mine out as well.

they couldn't leave the hook in bcos the bolt was not milled out to accommodate the hook , other wise the rear of the bolt would be slamming into the hook to a pancake .

I have have not tried it without the buffer but if the CSA 380 came without a buffer than obviously it shouldn't be a problem with the 32 .

I thought it was only the CSA bolts that weren't milled in the back?

And for those who find these things interesting:

I just fired 50 rds in each .

the 32 had issues with feeding with original mags , not from 2nd to 5th rd but from the first rd.

no problem with the 380 .

Curtton, are these both CSA skorps or is the 32 a zastava?
My 32acp zastava has never had an issue feeding. Might be the way the mags are pinned.

my 32 is a zastava but my 380 is a CSA.

it might the mags so next time I will try the corwin mag , I only brought one corwin and it was too tight so I couldn't even put in the 5th rd , no issue with 4 rds.

btw , I prefer the 32 cos I got better grouping , at 15m I got 1.5" , for me that's pretty good .

I fired both with no buffer .
