I saw tradex had a few P-17's anyone else selling them? Anybody selling the more unusual rifles out there? I do't need another sks, mauser, or a mosin.

The most important skill in milsurp collecting is patience followed closely by diligence ! Troll the ee & store web sites & what you want will become available.

Indeed that's a great price for a great, authentic milsurp. P14's and M1917's are fantastic, robust, accurate.

Careful about rifles which are rebuild by folks in recent times; make sure you ask all the questions before you buy. I do refurb ("desporterize") lots of Lee Enfields and I always mention that when I sell one. Sometimes you see a gun that's been desporterized with no mention of that fact, seller conveniently forgetting to specify this important detail and trying to get too much money for the gun.

Great milsurps for decent prices? Aside from the odd Lee Enfield, some Mausers are still at decent prices. Swiss K31 as well; and what great shooters they are. Lots of great guns out there, happy shopping,

Lou

Larrysmith, 1/2 the fun of collecting is the hunt for whatever you're looking for.

As others have mentioned the EE, and several site sponsors are great places to hunt for milsurps. Also gun shows can be a great place to buy IF you know your stuff and can decide what a piece is worth and weather it's genuine or not. 8ve met guys that have been on the hunt for a paticular rifle sometimes for 40 or 50 years.

Lastly this hobby is about patience as most of these guns have not been made in 50-60 years so it's not often that anyone finds a stockpile a of say mint P17s in a bunker somewhere. It does happen but that is a rarity rather then the norm.

I've only been collecting for 3 or 4 years and already I've made so many friends and contacts in this comunity that more often then not guns just seem to fall into my lap if I'm patient enough.

Okay am having fun, still looking for that unicorn P-17

As for the trades ones, aren't they the Danish rifles, where as this is original, just figured would point it out. Always good to see what they are going for. Good luck with your search.

Once in a while you will find a gem. I found one of my own holy grails recently, a Canadian marked SMLE and Canadian Marked Bayonet. It likely served in WWI, maybe even in Canadian hands.

Do lots of research so you don't get burnt and have fun. Sometimes it can be discouraging but when you do find a golden egg the reward is well worth the wait. And research prices too. The EE is getting crazier and crazier. $1200 is about 3x too much for a restored SMLE of any type. A very nice rare one that was put back to as new with all the right parts, maybe $550 tops. That's what I sold my last restored one for a few months ago, an NRF. And they only made up like 2% of total production.
