Quality of old vs new VZ's

I am still debating on having Dlask re-barrel my CZH2003 but for what my finished cost will be I could sell my rifle and buy a new factory NR rifle and it will likely cost less.

Is there a relative quality difference between current NR models and the older rifles? I was told by someone that the older ones were better quality and often used all original matched parts other than the receiver but I have no basis for comparison.

Any other pro's and con's from anyone who's been through the re-barrel process?
 
Quality on new CSA rifles is good now. The bad batch of 2013 is all gone so no worries about that. Even if you had a problem there is a 5 year warranty from Movie arms.

For the cost of a new barrel on your czh i personally would keep it the way it is or sell it and buy new.
 
Why do you want a CZH re-barrel? Is there a problem or are you trying to get NR status? The older CZ, CZH and FSN are highly regarded it seems for quality, from what I'm reading. Only issue was really the 'gremlin' and it only was an issue in a small percentage of rifles.

Whether CSA's issues have been fixed, I don't know. I do see some reported problems not too long ago, maybe those were the 2013 batch.

If I was on the market for a new Vz 58 and I found an effected 2013 that was still new and unsold, I would buy it, send it to movie arms to get it fixed, and get a free magazine for the "trouble."

I never got a free mag with mine when I sent it off though. :c But yea, CSA's warranty policy is pretty amazing and movie arms is pretty fast too. They really stood by their product when the SHTF with their over gassed batch of rifles and did what was right for their customers.
 
Rifles being over gassed was only one problem. My '13 had a firing pin channel that was too deep causing popped primers (that would blow-out the firing pin from the bolt) and it was over gassed as well. All fixed with a new bolt and gas piston. Now it runs like a top.

CSA must have been training new staff or had communication errors when manufacturing Canadian spec rifles in 2013.
 
Damn mine has a 13 stamp. If you could please post the serials when u get them that'll be awesome and what if the rifle is a one with issues? Who fixes them?
 
I have to say my CZ858 lasted me for over 5 years and shot about 5000 rounds thru it and never had a malfunction. I recently bought a CSA VZ858 (summer 2014) from Frontier Firearms and I've had nothing but problems with it. Shells are constantly getting jammed in the chamber having to pound them out with a rod (with all types of ammo, brass/steel surplus and factory brass) as well as a feeding problem. The feeding ramps seem to be much larger on the VZ compared to my CZ and the shells keep getting stuck half way through feeding cycle (the bullets get scarred pretty badly too). I want my CZ back! Thankfully there's a 5 year warranty on the gun and I'm in the process of getting it warrantied (talked to Frontier today, great customer service).
 
I don't want a new one.

Google movie arms and call them and talk to them. Good people there.

As for ALL my CSA'S that aren't stamped "13" have all been excellent for me
