I have a T97 NSR and for now I only have a crappy NCstar compact 3-9 on it.

It works fine but it doesn't hold zero very well... Thinking of getting a scope that isn't a toy.

Now... I'll probably only be shooting 50-200 yards but idealy I want a 3-9 or around there. I was looking at the Nikon P223 3-9x but it's bigger than the entire top rail of the gun. Is there any comparable scopes that are more compact?

Thanks for any input etc.

Probably not wanting to spend over ~$350

That $350 mark has pretty much left you in the NCstar category. The only other scope that I can think of that may be able to accommodate your budget is a Bushnell AR scope...and I'm still not 100% sure on the price, but I know that it wasn't really that expensive...

There are those ar series Nikkons I always thought Nikon was great glass for the money. I think you should probably get the flat top upper first at least the optic wouldn't be 5 inches off the barrel?

I already have the flat top upper... The Nikon is 15.5 inches and the rail is like 12 inches. I know it's perfectly fine but for what it is Id like the form and function

I have a Leupold Mark AR scope on my T97, works perfectly and is made for the 5.56 cartridge. It is small and lightweight and I think I paid around $325

Bushnell AR 1-4 or HiLux CMR 1-4 is in that price range. After years of shooting, I won't use more than a 4x unless I'm paper punching way out there or gopher slaying.

I have to tell you I am still scratching my head trying to figure out how a scope that is not holding zero works fine.

That aside the EE is full of good buys. For 350 your best bet is to buy a used Leupold. pick your power. I sold a Vxlll 6-18 for $325, you just have to watch.

Once I zeroed it, it would be pretty close for the day. Fine for what I'm doing but annoying in general.

I have a Bushnell coming so we will see how it looks.
