New Mosin.Can I sling it?

Just got my refurb Mosin Izvehsk from Tradex this week. Better condition than I expected. But it does not have the metal escutcheons on the wood for the sling straps. Now I'm not going to be slinging it across Canada so can I make do without those inserts?

I thought all Mosins had them. Mine are not there 'cause it was refurb (in Ukraine)

Just a wartime stock. Some are whole metal, some half , some none.

Wartime stock. It is as it was made.

Sling it. Ivan did, and carried it from Stalingrad to Berlin without issues, so it's unlikely you'll run into problems.

No worries... just a typical wartime stock.

Remember, Russia was producing as many Mosins as fast as possible to beat off Germany so exterior finish was cut down to a minimum, that's why wartime Mosins are rougher than their pre or post war counterparts.
