I will steer clear of any product where 35 out of 74 people have had quality issues with that product.
74 is because I have not counted the hearsay votes.

THIS ^^^^^^
More than 50% of buyers had a certain level of issues...
You won't even see these numbers with Norincos...

people who have had problems are a lot quicker to speak up than someone who's had zero. but yes these results aren't too good at all

I said minor problems because I re-staked a gas key, once.

I'm not sure that tightening a few screws even counts as a problem.

I wouldn't give a rats yarbles about the light around the dust cover posted above.

Just to add a little perspective to this conversation, I've owned five Savage bolt rifles. A 25, 10 (can't rem mod), 12 LRPV, 10 FCP SR, and 12 VLP. The only one that didn't have a problem was the Model 25. The 10 (whatever) had a completely screwed bore. The LRPV, and FCP SR had rough chambers. Finally the VLP has some kind of weirdness on the muzzle and the action bolts weren't torqued. Five rifles, four with flaws...that's an 80% failure rate by the standard applied by some. My opinion? Only one, the one that wasn't worth even trying because the last four inches of rifling no longer twisted. Beyond marks on my brass the others all shot under MOA, that makes them good rifles in my book.

By one standard 80% failure rate, by another 20%...and anyone that thinks five rifles is a true representation of Savage product needs to take a stats class or two (or 86 NEA's for that matter).

I'd also be curious to see a break down of the flaws as minor, major, and dangerous to shooter (and I do mean dangerous, not might be...pigs might fly one day). Also by barrel length and year produced.

I'm disappointed to hear of any problems with NEA. It would be nice to have 100% since they're canadian. Their prices are good, but stories of issues are putting doubt in the minds of buyers.
I do wish them success.
I'm not actively seeking another AR at the moment, but if I felt confident in buying one of their 7.5 length rifles, I'd be a happy guy. Ever see one of those in their super short collapsible stocks?!

you should never have to restake a gas key if it was done properly.

I have never had any problems with my NEA. It has always worked flawlessly. I wouldn't be surprised if there were other factors involved with some of these reported problems.

Like this one? I love it and it hasn't had a single issue, though I don't run it nearly as much as my 14.5".

The nagwell in my lower is out of spec. Bolt catch won't hold open on last round sometimes. It overrides the bolt catch and usually stops against the follower of the mag, because it's tilted just enough to catch on the plastic. That being said I have two acquaintances, both with 10.5's. One runs great and has for probably thousands of rounds, and one had problems, but he had the CCS stock, or whatever it's called. Ejector/Extractor springs were obviously way too weak, and his gas rings were melted together after maybe a few hundred rounds, tops. There's some other things but suffice it to say my NEA experience has been totally hit and miss.
