Chance to trade X-Bolt SS for Model 70 SG,...what would you do??

Which one shoots better? I would be the browning guy. Opinions are just opinions you are allowed to make your own choice. Option shoot out .......

I just picked up a new sg so one of the Portugal assembled ones I think the quality is better then my all american fw

I have been wondering what the ones assembled in Portugal are like,.....that's good to here. The production of these rifles have been moved around so much over the past few years that it's hard to know what's the best one to get. This one is supposed to be 2 years old, so it should have been produced in Columbia South Carolina,.. right?? and I guess they are supposed to be a little better fit and finish than the New Haven produced guns..??

Yup, I hear ya Crow. I was thinking of getting the guy to meet with me at the range and we can inspect and shoot both guns. The only bad thing is, is right now the snow is to your ass. I would definitely like to know how the M70 shoots.

My fw is an fn made one as well. Forgot to put that in there.

Oh ya, the model 70 for sure. If or when you receive it, I suggest to use Howards Feed and Wax or something else to apply to the checkering, it appears very dry.

I was wondering if there was something I could do to darken the checkering,....I was thinking a good oil rub,...I have never heard of Howards Feed and Wax. I don't care for the checkering being so light/dry,..I like checkering to be as dark or darker than the rest of the wood.

Some guys prefer Tupperware / SS. I would take the Model 70 in a heartbeat. I have 2 of them and love them both.

I was at Bass Pro last week, prowling around for gun powder and bullets, however noticed the two Super Grades on the rack. I asked one staff member for a look at the guns. I noticed that they were hand checkered but needed some TLC in the checkering. I guess that they come from the manufacture in that state. Howards feed and wax is a blend of oil and wax that's great on any wood surface.............. Prophet River Firearms sells it.
