28ga users

I like standard 3/4 oz #9 skeet loads but have also used 5/8, 3/4, and 7/8 oz hand loads with both black powder and various smokeless loads ranging from 6's to 9's
i don't really have one , I guess !

Challenger ,3/4 ounce, number 6, from the modified choke of my 28 gauge Ithaca Model 37.

Sometimes I will use the 1 ounce loads if I am in conditions that I believe warrant their use.

Ya know, when I think about it, I guess my favourite chokes are IC/MOD, but that goes for any gauge!LOL
That doesn't mean that unless that is what the gun is choked I will not use it, of corse!
Those are the two chokes that I ordered for the last two guns I had built, one of them being a Ugartechea in 28 gauge.

I Do tend use Remington's #6 shot, but 5's I like better!
These work well in my Ruger English stocked 28ga, with full and extra full choke tubes . Up here in bush country there is no wing shooting, were shooting them straight in the head or chasing threw the thick under brush usually making long shots once you find them in the scrub and trees.

we hunt thick brush and timber in Northern Alberta as well but I manage quite well to shoot them on the wing with my 28's not on the ground.we hunt over dogs BTW so shooting birds on the ground is not an option .

Cat, one of these days I'm going to convince you to let me have a look in your gun safe. I promise I'll wipe up the drool 😄
